Everyone stopped talking

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 9:03 pm

I'm making a massive adventure mod, and while trying to test voice files I got from a voice actor, I realized that everyone in my entire game HAS STOPPED TALKING. What could possibly cause this? I wouldn't have installed a mod to remove the greetings, as I find them amusing. I have about 200 mods installed, but I have a feeling it might be something I did wrong in my mod. Before I reinstall Morrowind over this, is there any known reason this might happen to me?

thanks!!

Well, either you installed some bad mod, or (more likely) you did something wrong while adding your voice files into the mod. That's as informative an answer as your description of the problem has been. Check filter conditions on voice greetings you added - if they are too lax, they would override lower-residing ones, preventing them from happening.

Thanks, but my changes are for just a few specific NPCs. I would provide more information if I had an idea of what might be useful for diagnosis... if I had a better description of the problem, I would have a better idea of what might have caused it, which I do not. I see some voice entries listed as EMPTY in the list with no soundfile attached... nothing that I added. I think the voice-overs have been missing from my game for a while and I didn't realize it. I made this post in case anyone else might have encountered this problem, knew of a mod that out there that included removal of voices without listing that in the description, or perhaps a common glitch or known problem that would cause it.

In the voice tab, some of groups are probably marked by *; inside of them, some individual lines are also marked - whatever they are, they're apparently the source of your problem. If there's *no* marked lines/topics in your mod, then it must be a different mod causing this. Your best call would be to open each and every mod in MWEdit without Morrowind.esm loaded (you can drag'n'drop them by tens; instant magic) and look whether there's *anything* in the Voice segment. Those mods that have some, must be scrutinized further.
