So, everyone with Dawnguard has mute wolves?

Post » Sun May 26, 2013 4:05 am

Just curious as i don't have the DLC. Remember reading a lot of people complaining about it. Of course if you downloaded some third party mod/patch that fixes this then you need not reply.

But remember guys, minor patches incoming if deemed needed. I mean it is a pretty tricky bug to fix after all, it's not like all you had to do was look at one [censored] file to solve it.

I'm not completelysure what you're really asking here, but I have DG and the wolves I run into/summon or become all have their howls and are not mute...

This was fixed by a patch.

Actually, no, it isn't fixed.

My wolves do not howl (enemies or allies), but familiars, when standing next to them, will growl quite nicely. I don't understand what kind of difference there is between growling and howling. They are both sound files... growling works great.... howling never plays.....

Howling is when wolves scream at the Moons. I don't remember, you're not on pc are you? Because there are mods that patch this. As for me, I extracted the proper nif files and howling is now back.

I know it svcks ass big time.... I myself am a werewolf and enjoy the odd time where I howl along side them at the moons, now there's no reply just silence  Hopefully they do send out a minor patch with a fix for this included, but I'm not holding my breath

I see wolves look up and do a howling animation without a howling sound.

So as long as Dawnguard isn't installed then it's fine? I could do without this and the vamp attacks.

I would guess, I have NEVER removed a DLC once it's been applied to my saves. You run the risk of screwing up that save file. All I know is that once DG is installed the wolves of Skyrim become " mute " . But if you make a fresh start without DG installed I would imagine that they would once again howl, but I enjoy that DLC way too much to uninstall it just so that the wolves howl. :D

I have. I can say that it is because of Dawnguard that the wolves stop, and that deleteing it will restore their howls.

Yes deleting it and starting a new character will restore the howling but it's a bad idea to delete the DLC if it's been started, you can really mess up your save files by doing so. And as I said, being able to hear wolves howl isn't worth an entire DLC. I would sooner have mute wolves then no DG :tops:

I thought I was the only one! Yes, my wolves don't howl. They do the animation, but no sound comes out. People say a patch fixed it, but that didn't happen for me  I was honestly convinced they just did have howl sounds. Thought it was pretty lazy.

I did not realize Dawnguard was free now, thanks for telling me.

Dawnguard removed the command to play the sound from the wolf idle animation file. It would literally take 30 seconds to fix. Also, wolves bark like dogs?

Watch it be in the Legendary(dikeery) Edition along with the PS3 bug that blocks anyone from saving/loading/changing settings FOREVER if they go through the intro without having a settings save on the console, ie anyone who plays the game for the first time.

I can't say I've noticed this issue, but I play on the computer and use the unofficial patches, so that might be a major factor. Are there other computer players who use the Unofficial Dawnguard Patch but also have no howling sounds on the wolves?

I had to make a fresh start not to long and I never encountered this bug, I have heard of it ( today ) but I never had it happen to me. It may be a PS3 bug though.( I'm an Xbox player ).

I don't think I've ever noticed them howling. Animation or sound.

I believe it was the unofficial patch.

And all Bethesda games are left full of bugs and errors that would take minutes to fix.
