Is everyone with Win7 64-bit having problems? : Fallout: New Vegas

Would not get past the opening movie on my Win7 x64 BUT thankfully I reloaded FO3 on my PC a week ago and IT acted the same way so I knew what to do.

Here is a link for FO3 but works fine with FONV: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4GN5HbMsMVE Basically to get to work with Win7 you have to copy a special file (d3d9.dll) to the right folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\fallout new vegas

ALSO to stop it from locking up I had to also shut OFF my second monitor on my dual-monitor setup.

Good luck! It is playing nicely for me. I have a 1 GB graphics card and even tho it suggested Medium I set to UltaHigh mode and it works nicely!

Wheee.. New Vegas on the PC!

Newest issue: WHERE IS THE CONSOLE MODE?? My feet got stuck in some bolders and I had to reload a previous save file to get out of the situation rather than toggle clipping and walk out.

The ~ key as always. I used mine to go kill a bloat fly that was stuck underground. All I could see above was the tip of the wings. Some dude was shooting at it, but a gecko killed him while I was underground. :laugh:

Yes, I would not recommend buying this. It is bugged to [censored]. And who knows if the other company that made it will patch it.

Win7 x64, and it works perfectly for me.

* Everything maxed, including AA and AF. Plus a few ini tweaks for even better graphics.

It definitely seems to be a Nvidia+Windows7x64 combination... with the occasion here and there from someone not fitting that... I'm reading as many threads for ideas and info, but no one seems to have hit the fix yet :0( COME ON PEOPLE! it's been like... almost 24 hours and you STILL haven't fixed it for Bethesda! HOW DARE YOU!!!

I have windows 7 64-bit and a Nvidia 310m and whenever I try and travel to this specific location my game will stop responding and crash.

I'm not having any frame rate issues (win 7 64bit, radeon 5870), but i've had the stupid saves bug and none of the save files are the correct ones. Good bye 3 hours for nothing. It's crashed once right when I was sent a message through steam by a friend.

It seems there's a lot of buggyness as a result of the steam integration, so i turned it for this game. Not like i'm going to be bragging I have the "kill 50 enemies" achievement or something like that. I really think 99.999% of the achievements in any game are total narcissistic garbage for the sake of narcisism. I hate it, but not as much as losing 3 hours of "work" right now...

My gaming rig is Win7 64-bit with the ATI 5780 video card. I have not purchased the game but I see all these posted problems.

I see no reason to purchase the game so that it sits on my hard drive waiting for a patch.

ATI 4870x2 with latest drivers. Win 7 64 bit. This game is unstable as it gets. I can't go 5 minutes w/o some kind of issue.. Absolutely ZERO #()I*()@ @)$@ testing. I mean come on. What part of QA do they not understand... Couldn't they take like 100 bucks, pay some intern 10/hr to maybe install the game and play it for a few hours on I dont know... hmmmmm... the most commonplace OS out there these days? REALLY?

Dunno... I have Vista 64 with an Nvidia 8800GT here and FO:NV has run about as well as Fallout 3 did for me. I played 5 hours with no crashes.

I did just upgrade my video drivers this morning though.

I also have the Tablet PC Input Service disabled but that was because it made Bioshock crash. Maybe it helped with FO and I didn't know.

The game does get sort of slow around NPCs but my PC is old so I just assumed it would do that.

Runs really well most of the time. I am getting framerate drops near human NPCs like many others are, though. Other than that no glitches or crashes after about 6 hours of playing. Hopefully the NPC slowdown will get a patch...it feels like something just needs optimization.

I can't do anything! LAG LAG STUTTER! Please help!

That's going to be the GeForce 9100. It's not a really a gaming GPU. What other games do you play on that machine?

I'm using win7x64ultimate on alienware area51 - 12gb ddr3, 2nV 480gtx 1.5gb ddr3 in sli, i7 980x 3.5gh, tons of storage space and running off of steam client.

I am not experiencing the usual npc lag that others seem to be having, but I am having problems.

Every time I launch FoNV it goes through the whole setup for first launch procedure to install dx and c-libs <<< I think thats whats doing, I normally start doing something else when the alert pops up.
I am going to try to unInstall and reInstall to see if that fixes that problem, but even with direct line-in on hi-Speed broadBand connection it takes and insanely long time to dl, so probably put up with it until later.

Am also having weird graphical glitches. I'm getting random graphx artifacts -- usually sporadic flashing bright lights popping up quite often-- it kinda reminds me of assassinsCreed1&2 when you're in the animus and it has those little white flashies everywhere.
I was wondering if anyone else was having off load-ups and/or this strange graphic weirdness?

I'm kinda tired so this probably didn't make much sense -- will play it again later, pay more attention, and give a better detailed description

That's because you're using an ATI card. The issue now seems to be localised to nVidia chips.

Currently no problems except the occasional flicker while in Pip-boy and a bit of staggering while panning camera. Running at native res for my monitor 2048 x 1152.
Turning off all anti-virus / antispyware solved the initial crash problem I had.

Specs are:

ASUS M4N72-E
Phenom II X4 940 @ 3.0ghz
2 x BFG GTX 260 Maxcore 55 in SLI
Win 7 64-bit

I am and I've tried all suggestions so far to no avail. I have tried to install on 2 different machines - desktop and a laptop, one with ati and the other nvidia, one quad-core and the other dual-core. I don't even get to the main menu.

Both machines get this error in the Event Log and is the only indication that something went wrong. I've tried to do the folder fix, but I haven't gotten far enough for the folders to get created in the My Games folder. My laptop doesn't even have a My Games folder.

NOTE: I bought the physical copy, so I might let the laptop download it instead.

My gaming rig is Win7 64-bit with the ATI 5780 video card. I have not purchased the game but I see all these posted problems.

I see no reason to purchase the game so that it sits on my hard drive waiting for a patch.

I haven't ran into any problems while playing NV on Win7 64bit.

not having any problems its actualy working better than Fallout 3

it even works great on my laptop as well (of course its an Aiienware 17x though)

I've been able to play the game just fine more or less - there's sometimes bits of freezing/audio skipping (music-wise), but those instances have been rather far and few in between.

In any such cases, you will be ignored as a SPAM writer if you do not name your Windows OS version, with SP number, your video card ID, and your video graphics driver ID.

i have 64 bit windows 7 and the only problem im having is that i cant save my graphics settings other than that the game works fine

I had the same issue with the graphic settings (Win 7 x64 ATI RADEON HD 4850), and was able to resolve it by fully exiting Steam, then restarting it and the game. Hope this helps.
