"Evil" Daedra

Think about the Old Testament. God wasn't such a nice guy in there. I'm not religious at all (quite the opposite), but I recall reading about a story where he blinds a whole civilization of loyal followers? Not sure though. Might be in the New version.

I would like to take an opportunity here to point out that the old testament is very different from the Torah

I don't know much about Judaism. Hardly anything at all. Same with Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism or any other organized religion. I was born into a Christian family, but y'know, it never took hold.

I read it in Barnes and Nobles one time. Don't remember the book. But I knew it took directly out of A holy book and put artwork in to illustrate what was happening.

Thanks for those quotes. Can't tell if Sheogorath is just BS'ing. He does change, that's for sure, but we haven't witnessed any kind of weird change in the other Daedra Princes. Wait, Sheo might be talking about the insignificant changes, say, Boethiah's change of six.

I too, have heard stories of the Old Testament God being very vengeful. Can't point out to any particular chapter or something like that. And for the record, I'm not religious either. Not at all.

Gender is irrelevant to Aedra and Daedra. Take a look at dragons, for one. They have no genders, but are considered male as they possess attributes that would classify them as male in the view of mortals.

Anyway, 'evil' is also a really bad term to describe the Daedra. You are what you are, right?

If lying, according to the Bible, is a sin, then Akatosh is one big damn sinner.

Seriously though, I don't get why he killed Septimus. In Oblivion Hermaeus Mora seemed to be helpful to his followers, by giving them souls to study.

my look on the subject was that Mora was all about helping his followers in the pursuit of knowledge, but in this game the follower is no longer in pursuit of knowledge AFTER he finds out whats in the box. So the whole pursuit is over and the follower no longer serves a purpose because he is no longer seekign any new knowledge. thats why he had to die.

I don't believe that Hermy panfried Septimus as an act of treachery. Rather, The old kook got exactly what he wanted, or rather, the logical consequence of his labors. He sought hidden/forbidden knowledge, in so doing subtended the Prince's sphere on Mundus. That he couldn't maintain the integrity of his form afterwords says more about him than it does The Old Man of The Woods. I trace definite parallels to the myth of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Actaeon.

I don't know about subtended - but there could be something along that vein. So, Mora told Septimus that the Heart of a god was locked away in that Dwemer box, ya? So what if he wasn't lying? What if the Oghma Infinium is Mora's Heart, and the reason Septimus disintegrated was because the acquisition of that forbidden knowledge so thoroughly exemplified Mora's sphere that his soul just up and annexed into Apocrypha?

 Who can tell with that daM doG? But the way I see it, if there's anything at all to this Padhomaic character of spirits thing, it should be pretty clear that (most of) the Daedra do change. That's what the Padhomay yippidy-do-das are all about, right? Can you tell I don't really - normally - go in for this avenue of anolysis of spiritual character?
