I don't believe that Hermy panfried Septimus as an act of treachery. Rather, The old kook got exactly what he wanted, or rather, the logical consequence of his labors. He sought hidden/forbidden knowledge, in so doing subtended the Prince's sphere on Mundus. That he couldn't maintain the integrity of his form afterwords says more about him than it does The Old Man of The Woods. I trace definite parallels to the myth of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Actaeon.
my look on the subject was that Mora was all about helping his followers in the pursuit of knowledge, but in this game the follower is no longer in pursuit of knowledge AFTER he finds out whats in the box. So the whole pursuit is over and the follower no longer serves a purpose because he is no longer seekign any new knowledge. thats why he had to die.
I don't know about subtended - but there could be something along that vein. So, Mora told Septimus that the Heart of a god was locked away in that Dwemer box, ya? So what if he wasn't lying? What if
the Oghma Infinium is Mora's Heart, and the reason Septimus disintegrated was because the acquisition of that forbidden knowledge so thoroughly exemplified Mora's sphere that his soul just up and annexed into Apocrypha?
Thanks for those quotes. Can't tell if Sheogorath is just BS'ing. He does change, that's for sure, but we haven't witnessed any kind of weird change in the other Daedra Princes. Wait, Sheo might be talking about the insignificant changes, say, Boethiah's change of six.
Who can tell with that daM doG? But the way I see it, if there's anything at all to this Padhomaic character of spirits thing, it should be pretty clear that (most of) the Daedra
do change. That's what the Padhomay yippidy-do-das are all about, right?
Can you tell I don't really - normally - go in for this avenue of anolysis of spiritual character?
