Evolution......Revolution....Glorious

Whenever I see that Revolution thing at the end of every video, I am reminded of just how awesome this game is. I'm reminded that this game has a PLOT (OMG) that requires THOUGHT (OMGWTFBBQ) on how you should choose a side; Resistance (I FIGHT FOR THE USERS!) or Security (I AM THE LAW!)?

I love how the plot is given some sort of ambiguity, and it's not another "OMG teh rushans r attck! Noez!" plot where you shoot bad guy, he dies, you move on, it's truly refreshing in a genre lacking in originality & creativity. I also just get giddy when I see that R accompanied by the short Piano riff....... I feel...... nice

Just wanted to get that out there, anyone agree?

Yes. But...umm...

Couldn't this go in a countdown thread? Just to keep everything clean as people pour in to ask last minute questions about Brink? ;)

The whole damn forum is people pouring in to ask last minute questiong.

I absolutely love how both sides are the good guy. Every other game, the bad guy does somethign bad and you're good and all and laa-dee-daa. That's nice and all, but where's the depth? That turned into a cliche years ago! Now, while you're fighting for one faction, you also know the other faction has thier own reasons for doing what they do, and they're just as correct as you are!

Technically the Security are fighting to preserve peace on the ARK which has been invaded by 50,000 illegal refugees, the ARK was made for only 5,000 people.

The Resistance fight for equal rations and also for the better living conditions.

Why I love this game bro, hopefully the narrative is as good as I hope, the gameplay looks pretty solid, but that's nothing without a good story.

The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.

IMO, the security is trying to maintain the comfort of some while the majority of people are being suppressed and told "yeah sorry you have no were to go and your watching your children starve but we are full". I just think in that situation I would side with the refugies even if I was rich and happened to take a vacation to the arc before the world went to hell. Just doesnt seam like the kind of situation where somone says "dibs" and everyone else is just suppossed to jump back in the water.

But thats the cool thing, no one is really wrong...its all boils down to what would you do to survive. Rift had a simular aproach to the opposing faction idea too and thats one of the things that attracted me to it. Seams alot more realistic than "this group has halos and this one punches babies".

Thing is, they're not saying "You get nothing"

They're saying "we can spare this much and no more" - everyone's assuming the Founders are living without restrictions on their water, do we really know that? How can we be sure they're not doing their best to keep everyone provided with enough, when they're trying to provide for thousands more people than the Ark was meant to support.

I'm with Security because while the Founders MIGHT be trying to oppress people, Security are just trying to maintain order and prevent the Resistance (who they think are terrorists) from killing everyone.

I love that both sides can explain their side and seem like the "good guys" when you play as them.

You assume the Ark's supplies are limitless. As said earlier in the thread, the Ark was built to house 5,000 people - not 55,000 people. If you let everyone have equal shares of what can be sustainably produced, how fast will you burn through your remaining supplies? How much faster will the supplies run out, and people start to die? Or do you skew the shares each claimant has to the supplies of the Ark so that you may buy time to find a better and more suitable solution to the issue of sustainability with a signficantly larger population than foreseen?

Who has the right to those supplies? Does everyone? Do some people have more a right to the supplies than others? The original population paid for the material right to those supplies - the original Ark population also created the possibility for the supplies to exist at all. Without the original populace those refugees would probably already be dead, no?

You're thinking of the needs of many, sure, but what of the needs of the future? Do the many still matter if there is no one left? Do the morals of now still matter if there is no one left? How about when everyone is gone, do morals matter still?
