[RELZ] eXcaliber -ammo aXpansion pack

Post » Fri Apr 08, 2011 9:30 am

http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11684 is the ultimate upgrade pack for CALIBR.

This mod requires http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3447 Version 1.3 released 2009/09/13

eXcaliber has been tested with FWE and 20th Century weapons. It should cause no problems for ANY calibr based mod (including FOOK and WMK). This mod is primarily an eye-candy upgrade and will not interfere with other mods.

Key features are:

Improved world models:
  • Most ammo now has beautiful, hi-res boxes or magazines for world models.
  • Classic ammo designs for legacy fallout munitions.
  • Augmented use of clips and magazines, including P90 clip and Hi-Res replacers for vanilla 556 and .308 clips.

Improved Naming and Pricing:
  • More descriptive naming make ammo less generic. EditorIDs are unchanged for compatibility with CALIBR and weapn mods.
  • Repricing makes ammo more expensive for overall balance. Powerful rounds are much more expensive.
  • Ammo is sorted to the top of your inventory. An unsorted option is planned, but don't download if you can't live with the sorting.

Shells and Slugs:
  • Expanded library of hi-res bullets pre-assigned to projectile data.
  • Expanded library of hi-res shell casings.
  • BSA packed resources reduces clutter when selecting casings.

New Ammo Crates:
  • Fallout classic 7.76 ammo crate - animated.
  • Fallout Classic .223 FMJ ammo crate - animated.
  • Fallout Classic 5mm AP ammo crate - animated.
  • C-Mag (double drum) - static.

Leveled Lists:
  • Vanilla style leveled lists for each caliber; scrounger odds, 75%, and loot
  • Compound leveled lists for vendors/containers include "pistol ammo", "rifle ammo", "explosives" and "Fallout Classics".
  • Other lists useful for modders include "all ammo" and "leveled ammo".
  • eXcaliber does not change vendors inventories. Leveled lists are provided for YOU to use.

Projectile data:
  • Unique projectile data for every caliber.
  • Silent projectile option for every caliber. Reduces ballistic attributes by ~ 10% but is truly silent with reduced muzzel flash.
  • Velocity, range and impact force scale up with cartridge size.
  • Extremely large bore loads feature enhanced muzzle flash. Big bullet, big bang.
  • All projectiles set "pass through small invisible" so you can shoot through things like chain link fences.

Projectile data is roughly aligned with the standards used in Einherjrar's

http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5059 mod.

  • Light P.Cal. (ie; 9mm Makarov):= 11k speed/5.5 impact force
  • Medium P.Cal. (ie; 9mm Para):=== 13k speed/6.5 impact force
  • Heavy P.Cal. (ie; .45 ACP):===== 15k speed/7.5 impact force
  • P.D.W. Cal. (ie; 4.6mm H&K):==== 25k speed/12.5 impact force
  • Light R.Cal. (ie; 5.56mm NATO):= 30k speed/15 impact force
  • Medium R.Cal. (ie; .308 NATO):== 40k speed/20 impact force
  • Heavy R.Cal. (ie; 30.06 NATO):== 50k speed/25 impact force

Known Issues:
  • eXcaliber should be fully compatible with any mod that uses CALIBR as a master.
  • eXcaliber is primarily an "eye-candy" mod. No attempt at "realism" has been made. FO3 makes a poor platform for a real world ballistics simulator.
  • Tracers IMHO are consistent with the design goal of eye-candy. If there is enough interest, I will look into doing tracer-free version as well.
  • xCALIBR is about 80% complete. Not all ammo have ideal shell casings or nice world models. If you can't find the appropriate shell casing for your load, select one of approximately the same size. Any modders that have ammunition world models they would like incorporated, I am eager to hear from you.
  • No laser ammo changed. This is all about bullets. 2mmEC is include because its a classic munition and not part of vanilla FO3.

eXcaliber will be henceforth part of my CALIBR install. Most excellent. I did some texture work for the vanilla boxes, making them water damaged or just darker (to fit into my Wasteland Moods IDoV theme going on) but these are simply more attractive and realistic than mine.

Great job. You have assured my install, and when I do installs for my friends I'll definitely include it with theirs too. (Lazy bums would rather pay me to set up their installs than do it themselves. Completely forgoing customizing their load orders just to not have to deal with stuff like compatibility.)

xCALIBRoverride file should load last or be incorporated into your merge. I use older version of FWE (new 5.0 halts on level-up) and EVE. My merge file contains elements of all three mods.

Some slight edits in FO3Edit are necessary for it to work well with FWE, but I didn't mind. I'd brofist.jpg but you can't make direct image posts.

Thanks for your support T3T. Been a longtime fan of your work.

If you made an FWE-xCALIBR CP, is it something you would be comfortable sharing? I'd be glad to host it on the xCALIBR page. Unfortunately, FWE 5.x is not a happy puppy on my system and I don't want to release a patch based on the unsupported older version I still enjoy.

I'll see what I can do, I'll have to rethink some of the ways I did the edits...

Alright I've gotten to work on a alternative override that can be used specifically with FWE5.2... it will be used instead of the default Override .esp file. I'll need you to PM me with the method for which you want the new override delivered once it's complete.

I've sent the FWE/xCALIBR Override .esp file to the OP. He'll have it up soon if not already.

Awesome mod. Eyecandy galore, plus nice little touches such as having ammo sorted separately. Thanks for sharing!

Earache, you had me at "here, go kill that with this shotgun!" That shop gets all my munitions related shopping. I stopped making my own ammo to do business with him.

I love you, dude!

PS : I married that sixy ass shotgun.

Well Ashven, that's certainly a very literal interpretation of the phrase "shotgun wedding." :) I've checked out the mod; I think I may have to give it a go.

Yup. We're a happy couple, with a load of little 12 gauge shells running about the house. Some of them keep going missing, for some odd reason...

Congrats on the wedding. I hope you have a heavy duty gaming platform, 'cause when I release the FOSEnhancements, she's going be become a lot more demanding. And rewarding.

I guess its not shameless self promotion if someone else does it. But I'm not above posting a pointless reply just to get the link up to the top of the Forum.
