Excessive Lag?

Post » Tue May 10, 2011 10:58 pm

Do a lot you guys and gals get a lot of lag when playing online? I sure do. I just want to know if its just me, or if its the host possibly? (FYI: I do have pretty fast internet)

Playing on the PS3 and I haven't had anymore lag than your average P2P game. There have been rubber-band moments, but nothing atrocious. I don't know if the Xbox has improved at all since the last patch.

^^^def been better, still not great tho. really hoping patch can save this game. The textures are the most atrocious thing tho, im not a graphics man, but the game looks 5 years old right now on my 360.

Scratch that, I just played a match and the lag was atrocious. I question SD's decision to go P2P on console's.

Sometimes I'm in games that are completely lag-free (populated server and everything), while other times I'm in a 2v2 game and it's lagging like crazy.

It seems that the game has pretty terrible netcoding. It requires the host to have EXCELLENT internet connection for the match to play smoothly, whereas in other games a host with AVERAGE internet connection will do the job just right.

Another thing I've noticed is that when I'm playing in standard matches and there are 4 human players and 12 bots, the game lags more often than not. However, when I'm in a game with 16 human players, the game is lag-free more often than not. I really do question SD's decision to include bots in multiplayer. It's really really terrible and I believe that it pushes people away because they don't make it clear that Standard matches have bots in them, and that you have to do either Competition or Old Skool to play with humans only.

Is there such thing as a lag-free match? I havent found one. Not once.

I eventually gave up and put the game back in the case

Im sure they would be. But too bad I cant find one. And Im frustrated that I cant judge this game on its actual game play but on the impossible-to-ignore technical issues

All I can say for you guys is to keep at it. Really, I've experienced horrible horrible lag the first few times I've tried to play an online match. Eventually, for whatever reason, the number of times I get stuck in a laggy match have lessened. It all comes down to how great the host connection is. BRINK's netcode is really really terrible, therefore requiring the host to have Godly internet connection.
