Exchange rates

Post » Fri Jan 31, 2014 3:16 am

At the moment of posting one UK Pound is worth $1.65 which means the equivalent cost of the CE @ $79.99 is £48.31. Can someone from ZOS or Bethesda confirm the exchange rates will be applied or are we getting screwed for being British?

Math:(Exchange rate: US$ 1.65 = £1.00)

Cost to UK gamer = £69.99($115.83)

Cost if Exchange Rate Applied = £48.31

Difference = £21.68($35.88)

Question – Are we being exploited??

EU games that are developed in the Americas is typically more expensive to purchase than those within the Americas. EU places a surcharge (a tax) to distribute within the EU. Hence why you'll experience a higher price when purchasing an American based video game.

Add VAT. Then start wondering where the remaining 10 pounds came from.

After a Live Chat with a Zenimax Agent I am awaiting a response via e-mail regarding if exchange rates will be applied or whether we can pay in US$ for the game and play on the US Megaserver. I'll keep you guys posted(excuse the pun).

VAT in the UK is at 20% which when applied to £48.31 is £9.66. What is the other £11.00 for?

I also believe that the Euro exchange rate has been exploited(Check out http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1485934-swedish-prices-being-higher-than-american/ )

Think about it guys if there are 1 million buyers from the EU then they’re making approximately £10,000,000 or $165,000,000 just on the exchange rates not being applied!!

Talk about cynical exploitation

People will buy it anyway, why would ZOS care? More money to them...

Nothing beats Titanfall CE. $250 = £250. Ouch.
