I'm excited about the direction Skyrim is taking

I've gotten especially excited for Skyrim ever since all the updates from Game Informer :) I think Bethesda is gonna have another GotY on their hands

Personally, I'm hoping TES doesn't become too generic fantasy with dragons, dwarves (instead of dwemer) and the likes, but I'm confident TES will always be unique in it's own ways.

There may not be spellmaking anymore, but no classes gives it a unique approach to character development and lots of other stuff like the new crafting stuff and combat system are looking promising.

Having started playing the Elder Scrolls since Morrowind, I can say I'm excited; I haven’t actually come across one person who isn’t excited. I must say I’ve noticed with those who do complain, they appear to complain about the same thing. "No Spears!", "Graphics aren't any better!", "Fast travel!", "No classes!” I personally feel that Skyrim is a step in the right direction, whilst still keeping the Elder Scrolls flavour.

I'm excited - the info has done nothing but get me more interested to see/hear more :) The forums have for the most part been enjoyable too - I like speculating. And that whole decoding the wall thing? I think this is the first game that I've had fun with without it actually being released yet :P

While I always reserve my opinion until I play the game, I have to admit every time I hear the theme for the trailer and look at the screenies...magical!

This is exactly what we need to see on this forum every so often, someone actually voicing support for the series instead of making 30 threads a day to [censored] and moan about the same thing that 400 other topics complained about. And all those topics are sitting 2 pages back with 20 posts in them.

Yeah, I know. Makes me feel a little better, though!

Well, at this point...I guess that's the main thing. :P

Anyway...I'm looking forward to the game. You know there's going to be problems, but I can live with that.

Thanks for posting this. I'm really excited for the game and trying not to have set expectations. When I got Oblivion I had no idea what to expect and absolutely loved it! I think it will be the same for Skyrim.

so Skyrim's combat skills including perks (which i'm sure Bethsda could have used a better name for since so many people seem to not understand what a perk is) are on par with Morrowind's, and just might be even deeper.

I agree - I hate the term "perk" It reminds me of FO, and seems so superficial, when it is actually a huge factor in defining your character. Maybe they could use another term like expertise, talent, expertise, proficiency aptitude or competence

I cant wait for the game either but, if there is no hand-to-hand or it is severely gimped.. I will be very upset and in a drunken RAGE the first few nights playing the game.

I am very excited about this game and try not to discount years of hard work by Beth under the guise of selfless constructive crtiksim. There is a point where nagging is not helping, just nagging.

I think the default state is "excited about the game," for those here. There are a whole host of factors, subtle and unsubtle, relevant and not, that might lead a person to hold strong negative feelings towards a particular game. Some of those will be perfectly justified, and even constructive, but all of the negative feelings can and will be voiced in the developer-forum atmosphere.

It's also worth considering that many people seem to expect to like everything about a game, which can only occur when one builds one's own (a thankless and daunting task even as a designer and writer, let alone an artist or programmer).

Anyway, add me to the "very excited and happy about 99% of what we know about Skyrim so far" list.

I'm fairely impressed and excited about the character specialization option, and the emphesis on skills yielding gameplay, the whole thing with Axes skill having opportunity to develop a bleeding effect and maces having ignore armor possibilities, makes me very excited, a lot of the new magic effects sound very satisfying, and I can't wait to see some of them in action.

I love the changes that have been made. The leveling is simpler, you can Duelwield and not to mention more character creation options which is always a good thing. :celebration:
