I'm not sure how likely that is, has Bethesda or Obsidian ever said that they have any plans to do another new vegas style project?
They never did, but now that Bethesda is making one, it gives the possibility of them contracting Obsidian for another Fallout game.
I wish troika was still around, after the amazing (although buggy) Vampire the masquerade bloodlines, I have a feeling they could have done wonders with it. I also wonder what CDPR could do with the IP.
Tbh I liked BGS's Fallout (F3) more than Fallout: New Vegas. One could argue that FNV had a more thoughtout questline and better story writing but I dunno...there's something with Bethesda title's that noone else can achieve which makes it far more enjoyable for me. I guess it's the unique exploration experience BGS is providing me.
Why would it be necessary for Bethesda to make another Fallout game to allow Obsidian to make one?
If they were both interested Obsidian could have already made several Fallout games......I'm not trying to be argumentative but i'm not seeing the connection.
I'd love Obsidian to make another Fallout game, hell I'd have loved them to have released several while we waited for Fallout 4.
An upcoming Obsidian's Fallout is very likely, but as many others said, it has yet to be confirmed.
Because Bethesda owns the license and no one else is allowed to make Fallout games unless they say so.
OP's jumping to conclusions, unless it's an actual reality that Obsidian will definitely get involved.
Honestly, I wish that too, but Bethesda is going to be the same old Bethesda. I love their games but the games plainly aren't good games. Skyrim was fun and Is the most played game in my Steam library, but I don't consider it a good game. It's just fun, not good. I regard NV as a good game even though I have less hours into it.
I remember an interview with a member of Obsidian from a few years ago, I think it was Feargus Urquhart but I'm not sure. He said something along the lines of wanting to do another one and have it take place in the Boneyard from Fallout 1. Anyway, if we want Obsidian to make another Fallout game after Bethesda's Fallout 4 wraps up, we're going to have to be very vocal about it and make sure that Bethesda and Obsidian both see a large demand for it.
Honestly, there wasn't much to explore in Fallout 3, it was just the same ruins and subways over and over again with boring writing. It was fun, but wasn't good.
No. I did not. Hence why I wrote "possibility."
Because they can't. The only way they can make one is if Bethesda contracts them to make one. Clearly they didn't because Obsidian was making Wasteland 2.
Well, I guess you could play Wasteland 2 in the meanwhile. It was co-developed by Obsidian. I just love their story telling abilities! Gosh, can Chris write! He created one of my favorite game characters with Ulysses!
Wise words. I'll be making it clear that I'd like an Obsidian Fallout. We'll see if consumers want one as well.
Don't get me wrong - I am a big fan of Obsidian games, but I am just tired of this 'Obsidian is gonna make Fallout 4 spin-off' silliness. It used to pop up every time F4 was mentioned. Now, after the official announcement, here we go again: Fallout 4 isn't even released, and you are talking about possible sequels. This is just wild speculation and nothing more, and it is also quite disheartening because chances of Obsidian making another Fallout game seem to me quite slim (and I do want that to happen).
It's just something to hope for. Bethesda hasn't changed and probably never will, so I don't have high expectations for a Fallout game from them. If Fallout 4 impresses, good for it. I'll be buying it and playing it anyways.
I'm for this, as long as Caesar's Legion are renamed to Gamergate.
Don't even bring that nonsense here.
I hope Obsidian is contracted to make another Fallout game simply because it will cut down on the wait for the next game in the series after Fallout 4, still not sure what the connection is between Bethesda making a game and Obsidian being contracted to make one is, beyond wishful thinking.
