Excitement Level

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:10 am

I was looking forward to the day ESV would be announced for a long time, lurking in the speculation threads and such and I figured I would be excited when the game was announced. Instead, when someone told me they had a teaser trailer of it, I just smirked, nodded, and went back to playing cards. Maybe its because it was only a teaser trailer that did little more then confirm what we all knew for a while, that ESV was in development, but it just wasn't all that exciting. Maybe I'll be more excited when I pick up the issue of GI with real info about the game. Speaking of, does anyone know when I can get that? Can I just waltz into a game stop sometime in the first week of Feb and grab it, or do I have to jump some hoops to get it.

Anyway, how excited were you guys when you heard about the teaser? How about when you watched it? I know when I finally got around to watching the video, I was vaguely unimpressed.

The GI will be available for purchase in stores around the 13th of January.

As for the trailer, I went bat[censored] when I first saw it during the VGAs. Epic nerdgasm.

If you get their edge card you will get the mag for feb late January. You could also just wait til someone else gets it puts scans of it online. You wont see that here though since its against policy but on another website or forum it will be all over the place.

You know I was really excited to hear about the new Elder Scrolls. When I heard from my friend about a trailer I thought he was just messing with me because he knows how much I like the series. I've been playing Oblivion since the day it came out and it was something to look foward to when heard about it. So all in all on a scale of 1 to 10 I would say 10.

I thought they said ESV would be the Feb cover of GI?

Also, I thought thats how I would react, but instead I just shrugged it off. Even the trailer did little more then give me a smug "f*** yeah" feeling

I'm fairly excited, but I'll be a lot more excited once I start seeing screens and information about the game. Especially the scenery.

I had a somewhat similarly subdued reaction: I already suspected their next game was an Elder Scrolls title, I already suspected it was called TES V: Skyrim, and I already suspected it would be released Fall 2011. With little solid information there only surprise was the inclusion of dragons and to be honest I'm not a fan of dragons in RPGs . . . although I am very curious to see how Bethesda handles them so on this count I'm still quite interested.

I was quite excited by the prospect of opening this forum and I was also excited to know definitely that details would be coming soon (relieved as well!).

They did. The February issue will ship from GI headquarters January 6th. All of the issues are for the month after the actual month they ship. Something about so when the magazine gets to the store around the 13th of the month it can sit on the shelf for a full month until the next one ships and still have the name of the next month on it.. or something. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, but it's the way they work.

By the way, the Skyrim cover of Game Informer will be revealed online at gameinformer.com January 6th, so don't miss it!

I'm not terribly excited. The trailer was nice, but it didn't give me any hope that Bethesda has charted a new course away from the generic stuff they've done in the past.

The moment I heard Todd Howard's name announced at the VGAS I was ecstatic. To be honest it has died down quite a bit due to the lack of info. I know the Game Informer will be out next month, why didn't they just wait till then for the announcement as well?

I was quite excited, but then i realised i would have to wait almost a year so i am not giving in to the hype just yet. Also skyrim is ok but not as exotic as other lands

Judging by the activity in the Skyrim forums, I would say a lot of people are excited. At least now we have a measurable waiting period. Although I'm still going to patiently wait for it's release, giving Beth the time they need to polish their final product.

I was underwhelmed by the trailer however I've been too excited. I registered an account here and spent far too much time reading these message boards due to the announcement. :)

Yes. Everybody today is supposed to be bitter, hardened and cynical. It's very un-cool to be enthusiastic about anything :nono:

I kind of really don't like teaser trailers.... I mean,... I understand there purpose obviously... to Tease, but I wish that wasn't the trend. Every time, I see a teaser I get excited and hit a high then that gives way to an annoyed feeling that the trailer told me almost nothing.

How I wish the trend was lets create an awesome trailer that at least shows something of what the game looks like, even if it is mixed with CG elements.. Maybe, WOW the fans, instead of tease them?..

Teaser trailers honestly just piss me off..

But oh well, they can do what they want,... and we'll get info soon enough

Very excited, partly because I think the announcement trailer is excellent, and partly because all of the real information is yet to come. Skyrim might be a masterpiece, or it might be a disappointment, but right now, knowing so little, it could be anything.

I also like dragons, and cold/wintry settings in RPGs, so what little we do know is already quite appealing.
