Excluding potential player's same-six marriages...

I maintain that it's better them to not mention it at all.

No one comments on sixual equality or the level of literacy either. Guess what with Daedric invasions, constant wars and the chance of being eaten by trolls, they don't have the time to be as uptight as we are.

This is a very good point.

Tamriel is not Earth. Their society is not medieval. Any direct comparison rings false.

On Tamriel people have lived with entirely different sapient races since the dawn of time (literally).

This is comparable to us sharing a society with dolphins, with having a chimpansee and a crocodile co-worker, with sitting in the bus next to a tiger. (Assuming these were all sapient.)

It is quite logical to assume that a society which has overcome the difficulties of living side-by-side with completely different races doesn't make a big deal over a comparatively minor thing like gender.

After all, in Tamriel an elf can get married to a lizard.

Realistically, homosixuality has been shunned even in Medieval time (which was a particularly violent period of time and similar to the Third Era); with the exceptions of kings and queens participating in them (Richard "Stabby" the Lionheart was probably gay)

The Elder Scrolls was created in the modern time; so of course they would avoid pissing off the wrong crowd to sell games. But REALISTICALLY, homosixuality would probably be something akin to Daedra worshipping to the "normal" eyes and would be treated differently depending on the regions. But generally pretty bad, I can assume.

That, of course, is unless your partner can rip a man in half with his barehands or summon Molag Bal to rip the opposition's head off, that is... :P

I'd like to see some same-six NPC relationships in the next game but I don't want to see NPC gossip/comments on couples that are same-six unless there are also comments regarding hetero couples by the same gossipers.

Same-six should be in the game but given no special attention, either positive or negative, than hetero couples imho.

Exactly; many people do discriminate against inter-race after all.

Well, in RL Medieval times, married women were pretty much considered the property of their husbands, so...

In Tamriel, gender doesn't seem to matter much at all. A woman owns her own property and can be a business owner, soldier, or rule a country. Nothing indicates that women are considered less worth than men. Since gender isn't an issue, same-six relationships hardly is an issue, either.

As someone already has pointed out, with different races living side by side, such things probably doesn't matter.

Even though you have a point about TES being created in modern times, with modern values, I'd also like to point out that even if same-six relationships might have been shunned upon in Western Europe during the Middle Ages, it has been accepted (more or less) in other societes, during other periods of time (the ancient Greeks say hello).

In game to; for example, the emperor's cousin and her husband; and that's just two different human races!

I guess all I really want is more in-depth social interaction.

Why should Tamriel adhere to our real world ideas/prejudices? Considering the world that they live in, the idea that two women, or two men would want to have six with each other is perfectly normal and nice. They don't put thought into it. Why would they make a comment on it? They didn't have centuries of high elders telling them that homosixuality was an abomination in the eyes of the Divines, and should therefore be punished like with what Christianity was doing in the Medieval era. If anything else, they were likely told that the Divines encouraged all forms of marriage. Just because Medieval society, in our world, shunned homosixuality doesn't mean Tamriel should as well.

It's a fictional realm, it's free to have whatever the hell it wants. It already has talking, bi-pedaled lizards and cats, dragons, magic, daedras, Daedra princes, and lone unknown heroes who escape prisons to radically change world history forever.

Let's not get into it too much; I just wanted more interactions.

And I said it's odd that there is no comments because there is only one existing homosixual couple in the game, on solsteim.

Think about it. Does Dibella look like someone who'd condemn homosixuality? And she's one of the most important gods in Tamriel. Then you have Khajiit and their 'rules'. Remember the third one? Enjoy life.

Life is short. If you have not made love recently, please, put down this book, and take care of that with all haste. Find a wanton lass or a frisky lad, or several, in whatever combination your wise loins direct, and do not under any circumstances play hard to get. Our struggle against the colossal forces of oppression can wait.
Good. Welcome back.

That sounds pretty tolerant, doesn't it?

That said, NPCs did gossip about interracial marriages in Oblivion. Colonel mentioned Chorrol, there was also a Nord married to a Bosmer in Anvil. Their neighbours made some nasty comments, including "I'd rather sleep with my horse." So it's not like everything is easily accepted, even if it happens relatively often. It probably depends on the province too, but if you can hear such gossip in very international Imperial City...

The widespread literacy and the sheer amount of books in print alone tell us this is nothing at all like medieval Europe. Architecture, furniture, weapons and armour may be more or less similar, and there is some flowery language in Daggerfall, but everyone being educated enough to read, and the intellectual freedom that implies, would be a concept totally alien to a medieval Earth mind set.

And yes, there are some racist comments, but my favourite person from the history of Tamriel had a bull for a lover. These aren't Earth rules we're dealing with here.

It just seems much more simple when all the rules of society crumbles: Bashing heads and burning villages in the day, and sleep with whoever the hell I feel like to in the night. In a "realistic" Tamriel, I can imagine gay couples running off to the woods, joining bandits and live a sort of a gay "Bonnie and Clyde" lifestyle.

But within "city limits", when rules start to come into play; people are trained to be ashamed of who they might truly love, and marry someone with status or money.

She's Dragonborn, right?

Maybe she just figured no mortal man or woman can satisfy her in bed! :D

Historically, Catherine the Great often took a horse to bed...
