Light and heavy can both be perked to be weightless, and all will hit the armor cap with smithing. Comes down to preference.
My preference was light armor. Fur and the Dark Brotherhood set are the only one's I've used. None of my current characters use any armor though.
I only use light armor. I tend to do a lot of stealth kills and like to stay mobile. I pretty much exclusively use a set of smithed and enchanted Elven armor.
I only use light armor, I can't stand heavy armor. I prefer to stay mobile and flexible, allows me to fight with more finesse than brute force.
On average, most of my characters use Light Armor. But it is really up to them which they use. Some use heavy, some use light, some go without armor altogether.
I use the steed stone and wear whatever looks best on my characters. I like to mix heavy and light together.
I'll use it exclusively, but that depends on what kind of character and RP I'm doing. I wont play a thief/assassin that wears heavy. Light in this case makes more sense.
This Shrek clone is an assassin http://images.uesp.net/8/8e/OB-npc-Gogron_gro-Bolmog.jpg
Depends on what class/race combo I'm playing but I usually use light. Mostly because my favorite armour in the game happens to be light/
i prefer enchanted light armor. either thieves guild, nightingale or dragon scale
Light armor usually, though a couple builds I've used heavy just because.
Depends on the character. As others have said Skyrim perk system and crafting makes them all the same. Like everything else in Skyrim armor is vanillaized, for show only. Since I role-play I still use heavy on warriors and light on rogue-types. I have to pretend it actually makes a difference.
I've used both but I prefer light armor since it's perks overall are more useful.
As others have said, ultimately for me it comes down to appearance, all other effects being equal
I prefer light armor and hardly ever play a character that wears heavy.
Exactly. Because a real man would charge into battle wearing regular clothes. This makes total sense
if armor looks good i wear it i dont think much about the perks and all
Light armor, perked up, smithed up. Can hit the armor cap rather easy. (especially with a little help from my friend, Alchemy....) I generally just wear leather. (albeit, legendary......)
I use light armor only. Because that's what vampires are equipped with, right?
My characters often do the same, because you can get better looking characters by mixing/matching. Case(s) in point:
