Executions

Post » Tue May 03, 2011 5:22 am

This is my first forum. I noticed that no matter how high your bounty in oblivion, they treated you the same. You could go on a rampage and if they caught you, you could pay gold, resist arrest or serve your time. I think it would be cool if say you murdered a few people and the law caught you, they would attempt an execution which you could escape from. I also think non-player executions should happen randomly in cities and AI could start fights and steal.
I am new at this forum stuff but please vote.

Good idea but make the third question have selected multiple choices.

if your character can be executed i would like it to be escapable such as by picking the locks on your cuffs. and its in skyrim if i am going to be executed i better see some big old guy with long blonde hair a thick beard and an eyepatch coming at me with a large axe while my heads being pressed to an old tree stump by one of the prison guards

The last option should have been multiple choise. I would have selected them all I agree with them all. But yes I agree with the content.

It would be cool or have something like they did in morrowind where the guards would attack you on site.

Executions should be escapable but only if it's incredibly difficult. Freeing yourself from the shackles should require a very high (possibly master level) security and it would be considered legendary. Perhaps if you were associated with a gang of thieves and your rank is high enough they would help you escape.
Now that I think of it, mages could free themselves with telekinesis or destruction spells, fighters could break free with enough strength, and thieves could somehow unlock the bonds. Perhaps an "unlock on self" spell would be the best option.

"Stop right there criminal scum!" I'd rather be punished by the people I have wronged like a blood feud. Pay society a "wergeld" (money for a life) and have the possibility of relatives of the victim(s) come after me, in my sleep maybe? Which I think it was confirmed that relatives may try to seek vengeance on you?

can't vote. the third question should be multiple answer, with an "other" option, and a "no executions" option.

Why would there be? Way too many people get a hard on for more realism while not thinking about it from the point of view of the public. Killing your character permanently, then youve got to reload, maybe your save isnt far enough back, your games totaly screwed then. It wont be in, it shouldnt be in, and the public wouldnt go for. Just why? That tiny bit of realism added, to appease maybe a hundred people max, could potentially destroy entire games for people. Its not worth the time it would take to add it in, no matter how small itd be

Wow, awesome idea! Yes, there should be executions, it would make the game darker and more congruent with the time period it is set in (the middle ages). If Bethesda were really cool they'd allow a character to be hung, drawn and quartered in front of a large group of screaming, plague infected citizens :P

Rather then the player getting executed, how about public executions of NPC criminals?

There better be executions for every 5 steps I take in the middle of the forest, if not I will be displeased!

Also the guillotine was created by a french guy, so I can't imagine how it would end up in skyrim.

In the olden days, one could buy their way off the gallows with a ransome of silver, or gold

There were a few songs with different versions about this topic [Hangman] performed by many artists.

The scenario is something like as follows:

The individual, standing on the gallows, thinks he/she sees a relative coming down the road with his/her ransom
and pleads to the hangman...

Hangman, hangman slack your rope
slack it for a while
I think I see my mother...ugkkkkkk

Something similar to this on a Smothers Brothers Album.

I am sure this concept was covered by other artists as well...

Spoiler
Well, isn't it true you're about to be executed at the beginning?

There will be probably executions if one's bounty is over 1000 septims

I'd rather there not be an execution unless you do something REALLY major. Having to deal with an 'escape your execution minigame probably won't be fun after 5 or so times, Hell I won't want to do it again after a few new characters. I'm all for public executions of generic NPCs. That would be a good Radiant Story quest. Go and watch or attempt to free the person and escape.

As for the guillotine, it doesn't really matter who invented it. Who invented the house? Who invented a monarch system of government? All it is is sharp piece of metal in two pieces of wood with a hole at the bottom for head insertion. Not too complicated to figure out.

Also Fun Fact: There was a global variable (set to 5000) where there was going to be a no yield option for guards in Oblivion. I found it when trying to make a mod that changes the game date to 4E 1 the day after Dagon is defeated, as it has been said the beginning of the 4th era was when there was no more of the Septim line in Cyrodiil. I wonder why it wasn't included?

Yes, it's been confirmed that the game begins with you about to be executed. (Confirmation: Executions.) But you escape. (Confirmation: Executions Escapable.)

That only leaves the method of execution as even a question, since the rest is all confirmed.

I think all three should be in affect depending on how high your bounty is. I know that would be hard to figure, but I think it would be cool if they would incorporate that.

I voted NO, there should be exocutions. If we get exocuted what is the point, reloading the game, we will still have the same problem of being caught and playing Ground Hog day of being executed.

I voted Yes it should be escapable because we end up to point one I made.

I voted Axe and Sword since I don't recall ever seeing a guilloteen or what not. I think TES settings is not a game where we are put in a potion of about to dieing. By that I don't mean in combat, but actually being sent toe the stock, waiting and then being brought to be hanged or to the guilloteen.

Nah I find the gold to be a good option and if over a certian limit, then the guards keep chasing you for ever and ever, so there is your death sentence you have.

I wholeheartedly support this :tops:
I would like to see more group activities in Skyrim, to put that shiny new engine at work a little and a night commando team of thieves or assassins or mercenaries of some sort that breaks into the jail to help you escape would be great!
