Exorcism quest leaves me at a dead-end

I'm in the middle of a quest for Stendarr Temple in Charwood, Daggerfall. I had to obtain a rare symbol and give it to a young boy to exorcise him. But then a women at the tavern told me that the boy's guardian was bragging about how he stole a symbol from Stendarr. And she directed me towards "Ed's House" (coincidentally, my character's name). But there is no place by that name that I can ask people in town about. there is no home called "Ed's House" to search on my world map. I wondered if the house he hides in is chosen randomly and just happened to be a house that is possible for me to purchase. But Charwood doesn't even have a bank. I haven't even bought a house anywhere in the game yet.

Charwood doesn't look too big. If you're really interested in finishing the quest I would just click on every house using the info mode. It would be easier if the tavern lady would give you a direction to search. The right house should say "The xxxxx Residence" and should be the only house in town with a name associated with it. (I suspect that your game glitched a bit by calling it Eds House).

Have you asked people in town using the "general" option? Any residence listed would be the one you're looking for.

I've asked people in town using every option and sub-category available. One thing that seemed odd was that there was a "Residence" listed under Taverns (not that it mattered because it didn't have the person I was looking for).

But anyways I, literally, examined every single house in Charwood. There was one that was called "House for sale" and I thought "ok, this must be it" but all I saw inside was a lady wrapped in a bath towel. My target wasn't inside.

Eventually I gave up and reloaded my save prior to getting a quest, and got myself a different exorcism quest with different npcs/locations. This time, when I visited the NPC that gives me the amulet, their door was locked. So I had to break in. And then I had to reload another save about 3 times because the first 2 times, when I received the trinket, it didn't appear in my inventory (maybe it got sent to my wagon?). But this was a genuine exorcism quest and I completed it ok.
