Expanding the TES brand

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 1:45 am

With the studios Bethesda has brought into the fold would you like to see them be given an opportunity to work in the ES universe?

My thoughts are a Thief type game (possibly Eye of Argonia)

Perhaps something along the lines of the Total War series set in Tamriel. There have been many posts about who would win in an all out war and a game like that would give you a chance to find out.

There are a lot of provinces that could be used(even daedric realms) as settings for these games.

Just wondering what others think of this idea.

Branching out is good - I always thought Bethesda should have their own brand of high-proof rum and call it M'aiq's Good Skooma.

I'd say mead, too, but mead is wholly disgusting.

I'm absolutely for this. The Elder Scrolls universe is incredible and deserves more games than just one every 4-5 years. My favourite would be an MMO, but an RTS or lineare action adventure would be great, too.

Is it time to call Child Protective Services yet?

A TES MMO is an awful idea. Imagine walking to White-Gold only to be bombarded with people screaming "SKOOMA 4 10 GP" and hundreds of imperials dressed as guards saying "STOP, YOU HAVE VIOLATED THE LAW HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA"

On the other hand, I'm all for the rebooting of the TES Adventures subseries. Arkane do absolutely fantastic jobs on the games they do, too. They could work wonders with a TES setting.

I wouldn't mind an Elder Scrolls multiplayer but on the NWN model (persistant worlds run by volunteer fans rather than 1 big morass like the WOW servers are).

I'd rather have TES Adventures restarted though and/or some wargames based around TES history though.

An Elder Scrolls MMO would have thousands of overpowered players. It just doesn't work with the lore. You won't be the hero, just another nobody.

Not all RPGs have the pc as the all-conquering hero. So long as it wasn't in the main TES series I don't see whats wrong with having games where the pc is 1 of the many adventurers, thieves, mages etc of the type who appear in many of the TES books. As for there being thousands of overpowered players that depends how well-designed it is.

an mmo from this company have to bbe a more guild baced civ build focus

falout = the guild build a guildcity from a dry waistland

TES = the guild run a area in the epire, ex the guildboss is the jarl/ mayor i a town or boss in a cave oe somthing

so its 90% guild building and 10% solo play, but yes etch member in the guild get ther owen spot in in the town organisaton. run a farm, mill mine or a fort outside, be a part of the staff next to the jarl or if you are a casual player just run a chop om town or be a soldier in the army.

but most quests is guildquests so to say, the king/emerer give dutys or some popsit faction mack problems. ir jsut quest to upgare stuffs you comtrole.

Isn't that what you'd expect in the market district? People selling their goods? Besides, you could probably just block player chat.
But arguing over specifics is moot. There are many ways an MMO can work.

How is playing a common guard or thief against the lore? With most of my characters in any TES game, I was not the hero, but only some member of a guild.

as is i posted in my post abowe #9 is an example on hove to do it.

I agree, a Total War game would be great.

I want a modern type of Battlespire game. It had multiplayer, and a large dungeon dive.

All I'm going to say about a TES MMO is that the suggestions here are completely off - TES is about being who you want, and doing what you want. The suggestions here kind of violate that initial principal. (I have a list of ideas on the "Ideal MMO")

As far as other games... I'd love an RTS, but not Total-war type. It's not the scale of the strategy, but the scale of the battles. I find games like Warcraft, Dawn of War, and Warlords Battlecry as being far more fun in the actual battles - I prefer smaller numbers of specialized forces over a crush of massed units fighting against each other.

Yeah I wouldn't like a TES MMO either.

The only way I can think of multiplayer in a future TES game is if there was an Arena like the one in Oblivion, but with the difference that instead of fighting npcs you would fight other players..

But that wouldn't be another game mode you get access through a menu.

After you start the game you would load your save, and whenever you would enter the arena the game would check if there is online connection, and if you where connected it would matchmake for you on the fly and throw you an opponent who is another player.
That could be nice. :)
But a straight out of the box 100% MMO ?

Meh..

There are plenty of MMOs that achieve this end, it's just none of them happen to be particularly popular, at least not anymore. FOnline is still up an running, and doing whatever you wanted was the whole point of UO or hell, even EVE achieves that to an extent.

more a sosiety/civ/guild build mmo whit trade and diplomoy and not an 5 man instans farming mmo.

a way to supoty dif factions that change effect on the relm and nabor and offcorse you owen guild town

and yes some war mode time to time, :

-go out solo by some quest
-bring a sqquad off npc′s whit you
-and up to lv of ibg total war batle.

i dont knove the lore good so good to give good examples

but in general just be able to tack the role as any off the NPC′S we have in the solo game to day
