Expansion Idea

Post » Wed Dec 07, 2011 2:12 am

I'v always been a big fan of Dwarves and were sadden when I first found out in Morrowind that they all disappeared. Looking at other games like Dragon Age 1, I thought of an idea for an expansion pack for Skyrim. It would be hard to add to Skyrim main world, although it would be cool i don't see it happening. I don't want another portal to upside down land expansion, but rather something that feels closer to home. Cities of people, and another world under the surface of Skyrim. It could start as a simple discovery that then reveals they did not die, but disappeared for centuries under ground.

There could be so many different ways to go about why, or how. They have plenty of textures, and it would make for an interesting aspect to play upon.

They could be hostile, they could go to war, the possibilities where Bethesda would want to take it are endless because the lore basically says nothing more than they just vanished. They could even make it be as crazy as involving portals and other "plains" but i don't think it is necessary.

They could put together huge, and i mean huge underground cities, far, really far below the surface. They could be friendly, and have there own missions, or they could be alittle bit of both. Perhaps a currupt king, undead king? Undead dwarves?

They could even add the landmass of Morrowind that boarders Skyrim and have a-lot of it take place there, and travel underneath Skyrim.

These are just some ideas.

Thoughts, comments, concerns?

I think you should read http://www.imperial-library.info/content/final-report-trebonius so you will understnad why that shouldn't be done.

They're all dead, Jim.
Every last one.
Even Yagrum, by now. Unless Fyr did him a solid, which he might've.

Yeah, it'd be against lore to get dwemer back. Of course there could be some sort of in-depth story DLC, but without any actual dwemers in it.

But they want cliche'd Dwarves in their fantasy game. Surely lore can be ignored for the sake of wowzorz. I prefer the dwemer how they are, dead and mysterious.

Thats a possibility, but we pretty much figured out the mystery of the Dwemer in Morrowind so I'm not sure hos that would be done. I would prefer to re-visit Solstheim or one of the islands between Atmora and Skyrim(if the lore I have read is correct and there is such a thing).

Perhaps a Falmer uprising would be a better DLC? Some Falmers could even be able to talk the common language and still see normally?

The Dwemer are gone. You have to let them go, friend.

The re-appearance of the Dwemer would be the subject of a whole new installment in the series, not DLC.

What about the guy from Morrowind, he survived, why couldn't have they? It's a mystery! Plus they can go anyway they want with it. I guess in the end I just hope the DLC/expansions are good, i didn't like Oblivions one. hat's just my opinion though. Love another Bloodmoon type expansion. I just felt going underground was a great way to emerge the player, it was literally under your feet the entire time.

No, not really. Yagrum Bagarn was in a different plane at the time (Oblivion perhaps, I don't really remember). All of the Dwemer that were in Mundus whenever Kagrenak screwed around with the heart of Lorkhan basically ceased to exist. I suppose it's possible that there was one or two other Dwemer not in Mundus at the time, but there's no way that a large number of them were hanging out outside of Mundus. And since Vivec stated that he didn't sense them in any time period or plane of existence (he had prescient knowledge), it's not like they just traveled to the future.

The Dwemer are dead. No way to get them back now. It would be like creating an entire race of beings out of thin air.

Ya, Dwemer are Dwarven in name only. They were one of the tallest races IIRC.

No I hope the Dwemer never return. Some lore should just stay buried.

What are you talking about? The corprus makes him potentially immortal and unless it says so specifically in the shaky lore between OB and now, Fyr is probably still alive too.

It isn't, not a single bit. It's some kind of elitism people buy into despite the fact that they are called Dwarves just as often if not more often than they are called Dwemer.

The Dragons had all been dead too, that didn't stop them did it? Those ghosts all went somewhere didn't they? Angry spiteful aedra/daedra raises army of undead dwemer. That'd be a good halloween DLC.

because they are actual Orcs, green, ugly, barbaric and not liked in the past, they fit the stereo type

Dwemer do not, they aren't short, they aren't drunkards and not facinated with Stone architecture ;p. They are average height, wise, powerful as hell, feared by mortals and hated by Gods.

Firstly not all the dragons were dead, Parthuurnax (not sure how to spell it) and Alduin were still alive. Secondly the dragons were buried, and alduin knew where they were buried so he could resurect them, does anybody know where the Dwemer are?
Thirdly the Aedra cant really interact with the mortal plane and I dont think the daedra really knows what happened to them either.

Read this to have a better understanding to what happened to them.

Exactly.
The Dwemer were just another race of Elves. Denoted by the "mer" suffix.

Just because some NPC's reffer to them as "Dwarves" doesn't mean they are/were. No character in any TES game has ever actually seen a Dwemer, aside from the the PC in Morrowind and that Dwemer was crippled by corprus. And since Morrowind is a giant hole in the ground now, he's probably dead too.
