Expansions, What Do You Want?

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 10:24 pm

It's a little early. I haven't even beaten it yet. But I'm curious about what people want from FO4's DLC cycle. What I personally want to see is something dealing with the Sole Survivor being 230-40ish years old. BGS barely scratched the surface with that. I want a story centered around the SS's pre-war significance.

Unless I haven't found anymore quests around it, but it seems like the Memory Den is a wasted opportunity that needs to be salvaged for DLC. Similar to an approach they used with Operation Anchorage in Fallout 3.

A big-ass settlement where people can't stop spouting random trivia about the Wasteland we are playing, with lots and lots of computers containing trivia about the Wasteland we are part of and factions with members that won't stop spouting random trivia about the faction they are part of. Also, something that is not aliens.

It's MA so I'm hoping for a nautical themed DLC of some kind, like maybe the Cape with Nantucket as an unlockable Island settlement? Fending off Mirelurk attacks and [censored]. Maybe some actually green forest in Maine because who would waste a Nuke on it lol it's always ****ing winter there anyway so maybe the pines could survive a nuclear one too. Another war flashback would be cool too. Oh and space obviously. The moon?

Definitly seems like it's there with the intention of being used down the road, I agree.

I've heard it mentioned before that lore doesn't really touch on NYC for one reason or another. Maybe a trip there to see how F'd it is? Maybe we see the boat from Point Lookout making more journeys, as they said the original captain did go down to the outer banks area before. That could take us to NYC or somewhere else

A patch or DLC that makes all the companions (with the exclusion of Dogmeat, of course) romanceable, for one.
Spoiler
If Curie can get an upgrade for romance, than why can't Codsworth? I would take Nick with or without a "skin job", but the fact that a Ms Nanny is a romance option when a Synth isn't feels insulting.
That, or maybe some more romance options?

Something else I'd like to see is
Spoiler
a way to affect change in The Institute from within; like following the Institute questline without destroying the Railroad, and after becoming the director, giving Synths the option of going free if they wish, keeping the Railroad around to help the freed synths acclimate to the outside world.

Other than those, maybe more weapon/armor mods and settlement construction options. I don't really have a laundry list of stuff I'd like to see yet; still exploring and what not.

He said what we want to see from expansions as in expansion packs. Not DLC's that add pieces of armor I assume.

Anyways I don't know what Fallout 4 has so if there is no places like Maine or Rhode Island. Have them for expansion packs.

Ammo crafting would be nice to have again and a lot more building options.. I mean I would buy (probably gonna get crucified for this), a Sims like expansion pack purely based on settlement building as I love it so much.

No thanks. When Bethesda Softworks and Bethesda Game Studios released Hearthfire for sale instead of a DLC for free in a patch for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim I got upset.

Be glad you got settlement building for free right out of the box for Fallout 4.

We should be getting expansion packs sold like Shivering Isles for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Operation Anchorage and The Pitt for Fallout 3, and Dawnguard and Dragonborn for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Huge expansion packs getting sold with some new landmass and lots of new quests and armor, NPC's, and weapons are always worth the money.

While it's not a theme, I hope they give you the ability to make ammo in the game.

In fact, why can't we make weapons? If pipe weapons are so modifiable, as it says in the game, you think you would be able to take parts and make them yourself.

I'd like to see an "Opposing Factions" DLC. An expanded map of the commonwealth with two new encounters that open up (maybe upon main quest completion if turning off essential for some NPC quest givers would be too game creaky right away). The player would come across either the last couple of raiders or an Enclave patrol and have the option to save them from a super mutants attack. (Even better than the enclave would be a new totalitarian Imperial faction out of 'Ronto'.)

After saving them the player is asked to help clear out an area of super mutants which then opens up a new basic settlement.

A few more missions involving clearing out local opposition, finding supplies and lost equipment introduces the players to new weapons, gear, and faction specific armor and clothing, along with a new companions (female imperial sergeant or make raider).

Player is asked either to lead the new raider band or take a promotion to Colonel and head up the imperial detachment in the commonwealth. If refused they turn hostile. If accepted essential tags are removed from NPCs like Preston and Paladin Dance and all other factions turn hostile to the player.

DLC should include new building structures, reworked settlement UI, new settlement jobs like the ability to form raising parties or patrols and send them out to attack other settlements. The ability to make gunpowder from fertilizer and ammonia at the chemistry station and bullets at the weapons crafting station while requiring NPCs to actually use their ammunition and can run out (at least for player NPCs).

I'd feel that would be worth the seasons pass alone.

The ability to repair existing buildings -- replace panels, fix frame, patch holes, even paint. I'd also like "That Gun" the 5.56mm pistol.

I would like to see a faction expanding like the faction you join decides they want you to go up north or wherever and a new evil faction threatens the commonwealth and your very existence like the institute but more finatical and dangerous

I WANNA BE A RAIDER!!! I wanna build a raider community and have power struggles within where we tear each other apart and and assert ourselves as the strongest and most worthy. Some awesome raider companions too.

Some independent farmer/scavenger/wastelander settlements too just surviving in the wasteland and not looking to be a part of the almighty and holy minutemen.

Both would come with new quests and maps and could be incorporated into one DLC

Me?

I'd like to see some new Companions with unique uses and abilities.

For instance, a Utility companion with a very large carrying capacity but very limited offence/defence (like a next-gen version of the robot packmule being perfected by MIT as we speak).

Maybe another Utility Companion that can function as a Mobile Crafting Station, but with little to no combat ability and a low carrying capacity.

Possibly a Combat Companion that has no direct attacks at all and reduced carrying capacity, but generates a Defence Screen, mitigating all damage types.

And of course, a Recycling Station crafting station which breaks down everything you place in it with the click of one button.

Something like dragonborn from skyrim with the plot focus of dead money of newvegas. In all honesty i haven't done enough of fallout 4 to know what i want out of its dlc. As long as it adds in new weapons, armor, quests, and hopefully settlement stuff i'll be happy.
