Expectations of Skyrim

Post » Fri Oct 08, 2010 12:09 pm

It's TES.. of course it will be GOTY!!
And of course almost everyone here on the forums will vote for GOTY because it is the Bethesda forums and we'll be totally biased. :D
Still, whoever you are, whatever you play, I think you'd have to be an idiot to not recognise how great TES series is. :goodjob:

Mass Effect 3 will probably be GoTY... there is always Dragon Age 2, Deus Ex, maybe even Diablo 3 coming out this year and those are just RPG examples. It will be a very competitive year, hopefully.

The only game I can see giving Skyrim a run for its money for the GoTY title might be Diablo 3 if it gets released this year.

Maybe BF or Uncharted will be in contention but not really. None of the others games I have seen mentioned really have much of a chance.

I expect it to be a pretty good game, like the gamesas games before it. I don't expect it to be the second coming of Akatosh. (Having high expectations is a recipe for disappointment. I've learned to not get too enthusiastic about stuff - that just leads to badness.)

GOTY for sure. Beth's games usually do get GOTY. Like Oblivon, Morrowind, and Fallout 3.

This

And with Bethesda's games, I get the CE first and the GOTY second. :)

I won't know until I play the game but I am predicting that it will get game of the year just like all the other games.

Like a lot of people, I'm assuming it will be GOTY. Realistically speaking, there are a lot of games coming out this year that are worthy of noting. Dragon Age I don't think is going to make GOTY. I hope the story is better than the graphics I've seen in the demo. BioWare stands a better chance with ME3. I love the TES series and ME; but if pressed to pick which I'd buy first if they were out on the same release day? Hands down it would be TES:V. So yeah... I'm hoping for something amazing enough to make GOTY. Heh... and as for Deus Ex and Diablo... How many years?

Imagine the best from OB and Morrowind? It's a pleasant thought.

as much as i love TES games there are several contenders that i love equally if not more......i know its heresy to say that but, oh well..........

in no particular order....

duke nukem

deus ex: human resources

witcher 2

la noir

system shock 3

doom 4

mass effect 3

half life 3

rage

drug dealer tycoon

and the current reigning champ of games that i enjoy........minecraft. im actually serious about that. im one of the first people to be picky about graphics but i havent had this much fun with huge pixels since the SNES and Genesis days when i was a wee little [censored].

My expectation is that the day before release, Todd Howard is going to tell the world, "Hey, guess what? I was just kidding when I said spears weren't in Skyrim! They actually are, and they rock!" And then the game will be given GOTY automatically.

More like Game of the Aeon.

Well I personally would not be on the forum for a game if I thought it was going to be any less than really damn awsome. I bet GOTY easily. If Fo3, and Oblivion got GOTY (right?) and this has been upgraded in almost every way it will easily. But there are some other huge titles coming out in this year as well... I dunno.

Seeing as how each previous game has set a new standard for the RPG genre upon release, I expect that Skyrim will get GOTY.

Morrowind really nailed down and took "open world" to new heights.

Result = Morrowind was awarded GOTY

Oblivion kept the open world going, and repeated what Morrowind started just with newer hardware and some additional tweaks.

Result = Oblivion was awarded GOTY

Both games were/are so immersive that fans and the rest of the industry and Dev's took applauding notice of what Bethesda did with their series. Thus two games in a row were voted GOTY almost unanimously.

With what we've been told by the Dev's, and seen in screenshots, I expect no less from Skyrim.

I'm expecting it to be absolutely fantastic, but mass effect 3 will be released shortly after which will be some serious competition. I'm expecting those two games to sweep most of the goty awards anyway; whichever gets more is anyone's guess.

I'm expecting it to be the greatest game ever created and my future Favourite Game of All Time, place currently occupied by Oblivion :)

Where is the EPIC option! Poll Fail!

Anyone who didn't vote GOTY should be fed to the dragons! :flamethrower:

I've no idea if it will be GotY

But I voted for that option, since the next option was 'good' which seemed a bit underwhelming!

Hmm, we have Mass Effect 3 and Rage coming this year too.
I dunno, might get the GOTY, might not.
ME2 was only "okay" when compared to ME1 so I dunno how good the sequel will be.
And Rage is looking pretty damn good.

But yeah it's a clear nominee.

I don't want to be a really devoted fan... But considering Bethesda Game Studios' track record with games, it's likely they will get another GotY reward for Skyrim.

I didnt vote because Skyrim is above rewards. Skyrim will be the award that other games get.

I'm thinking GoTY from what we've seen so far, though it will have some pretty stiff competition...

If Mass Effect 2 can do it, Skyrim is a shoe in. Of course, they will have to compete with Battlefield 3, possibly Saint's Row 3, and others...
