I am level 20 in FO3. I have not added any mods, codes, cheats or anything. I no longer get any experience points when killing anything - not even a Deathclaw. This happened the same time I killed at mercs at the Lincoln Memorial and went back to tell Hannibal Hamlin. He and his band started on their journey but never arrived at the Lincoln Memorial even days later.

So can anyone tell me what happened or how I can fix this? Game is not much fun if I can't advance.

The level cap is 20, you cant go higher until you buy Broken Steel or use one of the level altering mods.

Well I can see how that might make a difference. Thank you for your quick reply. I have never run across this before so it never occurred to me that there might be a cap. That's one way to 'keep the junkie hooked up'

Okay, I bought Broken Steel and installed it but my PIP Boy still says I am maxed out on experience and still a lvl 20.

Another glitch is Fawkes keep repeating "Here's the G.E.C.K. Our bargain is complete." but he won't hand it over. Seems my only option is to kill him and take it from him but he is very hard to kill and it uses up lots of ammo.

Any ideas?

with the fawks problem, you could just use the console to give yourself the geck, and as far as broken steel goes, how many in-game days has it been since you installed broken steel? 'cause if I remember correctly, it waits a few in game days to load, I could be wrong though.

Did you go into the data files option in the launcher and activate broken steel?

Ok I fixed the Fawkes problem by verifying cache and two files were corrupt (probably due to several game crashes) so it needed two files which made it possible to continue until end where i die in the Project Purity Purifier which ends the game.

I found where you were talking about activating Broken Steel and checked the box and now it loaded and it giving me exp pts for kills. Thank you very much for your help. I am used to Steam Games where these extra steps are not required and was not aware of it.
