Exploring and quests

When exploring around are there some places that should be avoided which can ruin a quest if visited before a quest? Thanks.

It is possible to skip the early part of the main quest if you stumble across Smith Casey's Garage and enter it's "basemant" but that's about all I can think of.

If you go to Doctor Li and speak to her at Rivet City, it will skip the GNR quest if you haven't yet completed it.

In general, I avoid the following places before I am specifically sent there.

- Rivet City Science Lab
- Interior of Jefferson Memorial
- Interior of Smith Casey's Garage
- Interior of Vault 87

It's a short list. All the other locations don't matter much if you stumble across things out of order.

Well, you can still do the GNR quest - you get the weapons stash instead of dad's location - but you have to kill the Behemoth outside of GNR without Lyon's Pride or the Fat Man to help you. Major PITA.

Try not to go to the top of the Our Lady of Hope Hospital looking for the holotape to get the Ultra SMG before you start Riley's Rangers. Just sayin'
