Explosion Knockdown Formula

Post » Sun Dec 05, 2010 6:41 pm

I've looked through several forums and the GECK site itself without success.

In the GECK, it is explained as:
Knock Down Living Actors: Three radio button options. "Always" will always knock down living actors. "By Formula" will determine knockdown according to a formula. "Never" will never knock down living actors.

So what IS the formula? I would like to understand the way that explosions effect all actors via this setting.

I have noticed that the 'size' of the creature or NPC matters, as well as the weight of the equipment they are carrying. The heavier they are, the more force it takes to knock them down.

As for the exact forumula, I don't know.

Thanks for the feedback Willie.

I'd just hate to default to an "Always" setting like I'm tempted, if the formula is something that is logical or effective as is. Most all the defaults settings are assigned as "By Formula", but some of the explosions don't quite knock actors around logically IMO.

I know we aren't dealing with a realilistic game here, but each step towards real-ish effects such as this make the game more interesting for both actors and my toon.

Any further assistance would be appreciated yall!

You can up the force that the explosions and projectiles do and it will knock them around a lot more.
I made a .44 Cal Magnum projectile that knocks NPC's backwards, but not supermutants. Or Power Armor clad NPC's. It was a fun effect, blowing back the lightly armored Raiders.
