Explosives bugged ?

Post » Sat Aug 07, 2010 5:28 am

I started an explosives char and I'm running into the problem of random mobs being immune to the damage. Firing at them removes their health bar but they keep attacking me as though still alive. I have to switch to a different damage type to kill them, ie. melee combat knife. What's the deal ?

What's your explosives skill? got all the perks?

do you keep up the explosive barrage and they keep taking no damage? When in doubt keep firing

the trouble I have at times is an actual bug in the life bar, looks like they have no health but they actually do, I've experienced this w/ other weapons too.

I do have an occasional "air ball " shot, were enemies take only a bit of damage on an indirect hit. I always just thought it was like missing a 95% probable V.A.T.S. shot,

Once expert x3 plus splash damage, it is pretty hard for me and thump-thimp to miss. Love that combo B).

If you're on the PC, you might use the console to see how many hitpoints they have left. Open console, mouse click on enemy so that their name appears at top, "getav health". If it returns as some negative number, and they're still fighting, then you've found an exciting bug.

GAH! ZOMBIES! And real ones this time, not just stinkin' ghouls. Now where was it that you gotta shoot a zombie? I always forget that stuff.

In the head, but in this case it won't work.

There's a glitch where an enemy will have all its health depleted but the engine will not acknowledge it's actually dead. The only way to kill the thing is on the PC: open the console and use the 'kill' command after clicking on the enemy in question. Fortunately, this is a very rare occurrence and you might get it once in 5-6 characters, if even that often.

Ive been having this problem too every 10-20 or so enemies one will be "immune" to explosives and wont take any dmg no matter what I do meaning I have to resort to my ballistic fist. Very annoying

Yeah, that kind of thing seems fairly common. Doesn't happen to me most of the time, but often enough to be annoying. I just write it off to buggy explosives code, or unseen world-object interference in the blast radius. Maybe a mesquite branch or stray mote of dust got between the explosion and the target, effectively shielding them from the blast. :shakehead:

As often as enemies get stuck in terrain or wander around walking on their heads with their tails stuck up in the air, I guess it's not surprising that sometimes explosions will not affect some random monster. FO engine = bugs.
