Extent of Pipboy Oversell?

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 4:49 am

I barely got my Pipboy (several hours of communications with Amazon.ca, etc.), and I just heard from a buddy that about 9 people in his company's tech department didn't get theirs. I've seen a couple posts here and there about their order being canceled, but I hadn't realized that it was such a wide-spread problem.

Are there any official (or semi-official) statements about the extent of Pipboy editions being oversold?

Thanks for posting.

It's November 17th, and I never received the order from Amazon. The package, as explained over chat, never arrived at UPS.

Amazon has pre-emptively reimbursed me for the order. That still doesn't get rid of the bitter feeling that I'll probably never receive this order despite the reassurances that they're only reimbursing me for the long delay, and that the order is still on its way (albeit lost in some untrackable limbo).

I was hoping to see if anybody else ran into this problem.

I ordered this on the very day that the set was announced...June 14, 2015. There's no excuse for this debacle.

I had 2 PC versions ordered on different days cancelled as Best Buy Canada says it was an error and they didn't actually have enough. What made me really mad was that they notified me of the first cancellation fairly quickly and before release, but the second they never told me anything at all. I had to call a few days after release to find out.

They did give me a free copy of regular edition and stated it would be shipped expedited, but here we are a week later and I still don't have it. It is in the mail according to tracking but taking forever.

I did get a console one which I'll keep for my collection. I've been checking to see if the PC ever comes back and several times after release the console versions have shown in stock again. The PC one is completely removed from their site now.

did the console version also come from Best Buy?

Amazon really mishandled this one...I really don't want to ever buy any special editions from them. In fact, in the absence of $20 promotions and the like and any other financial incentives, I think I'll try to never order games from them again as a personal scorched earth policy.

I'm glad that you were able to get at least 1 of them. ;)

If the package had any indication that it had something about a collector's item inside, like a FO4 Pipboy, then I wouldn't be surprised if the package was stolen because FO4 had an absurd notoriety in the video game culture almost like the iPhone. Don't be surprised if you see people selling their stolen items on eBay later on for a good profit.

Now that you mention it, it would've been all too surprising for a small number of Amazon inside jobs to occur with such a collectible item. I have a hard time imagining people robbing the Amazon truck when in transit to the UPS center (which was the last notification I received before never getting the item).

I find Amazon's lack of empathy to be troubling. "oh, you ordered something but never got it? no problem...here's your money back...done. Next!"

I've gone ahead and notified Bethesda about the late shipping issues/lost items, but it's probably an exercise in futility.

I feel your pain buddy, but what else should some poor amazon-buddy do, who's getting 1000 of mails and calls a day, cause something went wrong on another end? You get your money back and an apology for the trouble, that's it.

I missed the hole sales on Amazon (I'm from Germany, could just preorder it there, no Best Buy here). But shortly befor relaese, the local stores for Games, TVs and stuff opened preorder for he Pip Boy and i got mine preaty easy and fast.

It's a damn shame that so many people are like buying Pip Boys like crazy and reselling them to make money, and fans like you don't even get there own one!
