MP is EXTREMELY frustrating!!!

Post » Fri Oct 23, 2009 10:44 pm

Just giving you some support to others on the complaint about Crysis2 MP lag issues. My mates and I have been playing most of the popular FPS games on the 360 for the past 4 years (along with the better racing games) and this pile of crap has to be the most frustrating experience ever... Its really noticeable with one on one battles when you can empty an entire clip into someone and they seem to just hit you once and youre down. (Been tracer so Yes I do know where the shots are coming from). Also, the Killcam bears no resemblance to what actually happens. I work in IT so I understand the technical aspect of this problem and Im sick of people blaming Internet connections! I also understand that if the host has a crappy connection, all others can have a bad game but this has been my experience with EVERY SINGLE Crysis 2 MP match so far.... I have a great connection but that does not seem to matter with this game. Ive only played for 6 or 7 hours (only at level 11, average of 3-4 kills per game) but that should be enough to break the 10 kill barrier but Im closer to putting my fist through my television than I am breaking that big 10 barrier. Im starting to think that its to do with the location and distance of the host and that if the host is over a certain physical distance from you, forget it, your getting owned (especially by the host) I live in Ireland and Im thinking that most of the hosts (purely down to population) are in the US, hence all my game connections are crap....Certain fools keep saying "no no, its great, you just cant shoot or you cant adjust to this new game etc etc.. Not true, I think the reason they dont have the problem is that most of their hosts are local therefore they dont have any problems. Finally, things seem to work a little better if I play MP alone (not in a squad) and when Im not using Xbox Chat.. Anyone agree???

If you dont agree, thats fine too. Just dont bother posting, go argue with someone else...

And before you say, I'm from Scotland. It's rare you get Scottish hosts on ANY game; Never mind Crysis 2 xD

I'm from the US and have had the same issues you've described here. It is very annoying. Some games I'll do well, 20-5, and some I'll do terribly. I think it definitely has to do with some people's connections.

I'm from the UK, most of my games are lag-free. I have more problems with nerd-raging Americans than connectivity.

I went 16/5 on a red bar last night, no lag at all.

Either dont take it seriously or get teammates you can rely on. Preferably both. This game will make your blood boil if you let it.

It's multiplayer... there's going to be lag. Most my games I have 2 bars, I have learned to deal with. So should you.

Also, In ever multiplayer game I have played in, the pings for North Americans connecting to European hosts(and vice versa) have been horrible. The only time your going to get a good game is connecting to someone else in Europe.

Pay attention to who you're in a squad with. If these are friends that don't live even remotely close to you, the game will have trouble finding a host to suit all of you. I often play with squads of people located all over the US, and this causes major issues.

That said though, there is a major bullet lag issue that I'd like to see improved. I've snuck up on dudes, standing in 1 spot, looking the other way, put on a armor mode with full energy bar, unloaded into them, only to have them turn and kill me instantly. What the crap is that?

OMG! I thought I was the only one... I shoot 40 bullets in someones face, just to turn the next corner and get killed by 2 bullets. Many times on the kill cam, the guys miss 90% of what they shoot, and one bullet hits home and I'm on the ground :(

It shouldn't make a difference the distance between you and the host, Its just the lag compensation software the corrects the delay from what you see on your screen and what is actually happening, the software in this game is obviously not working the way that it should.

Well im American and the lag can be an issue at times, but it's not really that bad to get me angry. plus the game hasn't been out for that long for them to really fix anything. So I would just be patient and see what they do to fix this.

Glad to hear its not just me! I definately think the situation is worse when I join a match with a couple of LOCAL friends rather than when im on my own. People are also saying that being in Party Chat can make things worse but i dont know. Its so frustrating because its such an excellent looking game but thats not worth a damn if you cant get some satisfaction in MP. They need to allow you define your search or at least give more info on the lobbies..

The game has all the building blocks to be an awesome online shooter but it fails tragically in it's execution. I unload on an enemy and they turn and fire a burst at me and I go down. I then watch the kill cam and see my bullets going everywhere but into my enemy. I just hosted a game right before posting this and the lag was atrocious. There is no consistency in the MP because the connection changes so drastically. When you get a good connection if feels incredible, almost like you're invincible. But sorry to say it but your K/D ratio probably isn't because of skill and is just because of you having an unfair advantage. Really considering returning this game because as of right now, with the type of connections I'm getting, it just isn't fun.

OP... i live in NY right outside of the city and my lagless games are few and far between... id go as far as to say 80% of my mp matches offer me no hope at all...unloading into ppls backs only to get turned on like a supernub. Not tje higbest level 21 but have played enough to know theres def something wrong. Have the same problem with black ops but not as often and as extreme. I think they just need to make better mp games. Theres something goin on with these new styles of fps games online because i never had any problems with older cod's or battlefield. Also on your xbox dash ms is doing something called xbox labs where it studies your connection in return for avatar items... maybe they realise something is wrong and are trying to sort it out... it could be a problem with XBL itself. Who knows but this game would be great if i could get a decent game lol crytek please hook it up if you can.../end rant.

Dedicated servers aren't perfect. The difference is, it depends on how far you are from the server as opposed to the host.

I've been playing FPS on xbox for a while now and I have never had lag death issues this bad since Modern Warfare 2.
They fixed that within a month of release though.

The poor lag has absolutely nothing to do with connections, it's the game.
I have had games where I'm host and unload a clip into someone only to see the killcam of them run behind me and stealth kill me...WTF
They need to fix it and fast.
That and the AI's ability to see you de-cloak behind a wall in SP.

Fix these issues and this is easily the best game in ages.
Don't and it's just another mediocre FPS.

The main plus at this point is the little CoD kiddies haven't turned up to the party just yet.

Happens a lot. Too much imo.

Few examples I have are mentioned already, like unloading into someone with nothing happening, only to have them turn around after 3 seconds and 1-shot me.

When I melee someone that has not seen me yet, the first melee always seems to miss when watching the killcam while it was clearly a hit on my screen. He melees me down afterwards. Killcam shows he's right, but that was not really happening.

Both my enemy and me strafing and firing, or just me strafing, I see my bullets in the killcam going every direction while I was clearly aiming on him without moving from the target.

When spotted by an enemy who's 5 yards away from me, I jumped up by holding A (xbox) and moving towards him to try an Air Stomp as last resort. I got killed halfway. On my screen I was hovering above him, killcam showed me I was just 10 centimeters from the ground jumping up.

I know this lag/latency can cause these problems, but it takes away a lot of the fun playing it.

I agree with most of the comments so far especially in realtion to emptying entire clips into guys who turn around and kill me with 1 shot when Ive got full energy and have just activated armour. I dont agree with the clowns who keep saying "its not the game, your just crap". Im trying to figure out why the hell you would be reading and replying to a post about lag issues when you arent experiencing any problems??? If I could get relaible games I wouldnt be on here reading or posting, I'd be too busy killing. If you arent having this problem then piss off and play the game! Why are there so too many threads similar to mine if there is no problem with MP??? I didnt mention MW2 or any of the other laggy fps games because this is not a comparrision thread. However, other fps games did indeed suffer from lag but the lag was obvious so you could leave and join a better session. If the problem with C2 is lag, its the worst kind of lag becase all looks fine until you try shooting someone and find yourself unloading clip after clip with no effect and then go down after what looks like 1 or 2 shots. If you dont see this inconsistancy then you obviously dont have any problems...... Can anyone confirm that they have played a game with a squad of mates & Party Chat enabled without any issues??? Finally, I'm sure Crytek are monitoring these forums and I'm also pretty sure they are fully aware of this lag/hit detection problem. Question is, will they (or can they) fix the bastard thing????

Basically, this game is built for campaign and it has an amazing storyline. Just play that, look for collectibles etc, it's fun. But yes, the online does have some bugs and pretty poor connections basically all the time. I'm from Western Australia, have good internet connection, but have still seen nothing better than a 2 bar connection, still never green... However, this is even when the host is literally just down my street, I don't get it...

Same here just put a full clip in a guy all hits ( yep i was quite close) he turned and sprayed me from the hip and i was down from the first bullet. I am not been funny but that just should not happen. i get this more times than not. Not only that but i use the armor mode when i fight and even then i seam to get killed in one bullet then as well. Something needs to be done or this game will be gone.

Man haters gonna hate. Guaranteed half the kids in this forum are 13 year olds who played it at their friends house. Massive agreement on the connectivity issues. This game is a disaster online. I made a ranting thread for all to read :)
