I'm EXTREMELY scared of giant spiders

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 12:04 am

I'm almost at the end of the cave and finally I see... webs. And GIANT spider who jumps down on me... MAN. How can I kill him without getting close to him (not even getting close to let him jump on me)

I don't want to use any mods.

Find someone to kill them for you, while you look away :P

If you're on PC, go into the console (press ` next to the 1 on your keyboard). Click on the spider and type 'disable' in the console to make it go away :)

edit: so totally ninjad!! :D

You could try a sneak attack with a poisoned arrow - keep shooting and chances are you'll take it down before it gets near you. Or if it's still coming, use a fire spell maybe?

Conjuration spells (Flame/Frost Atronach) will allow you to stand back and/or run away after casting. You can cast multiple times as the spider is weakened and they will eventually take it down. There are also Conjuring staves you can use like the Sanguine Rose or a Frost Atronach staff that I know about. Good luck with those...it'll help you keep a good distance away because the spiders move fast.

I have killed before a giant one but I did it with a bit of trick: I hid in a room so he wouldn't get close to him, I killed him by a bow. But now, there's no option in getting away from him... I've got a dog who would kill him but I don't know how to let him go to this jumping giant spider.

If you don't mind looking at its dead body afterwards (and, again, are on PC), go into the console, click on the spider and type 'kill'. Perfectly viable option as well :)

What about those spell runes you can place on the floor? I don't really play mages so I can't help too much, but I remember it being said that you could set up traps like that.

Have you been inside that one dungeon yet, you walk foward and out from blue comes big spider landing on top of you and I actually died on it too! Don't remember where it was. I got frightened from suprise a bit but not scared because I find spiders actually cute but for you it might be opposite experience :)

Grow a backbone and go in and crush those spiders or get a bow and shoot them from a distance.

Lydia is far away drinking her milk in Whiterun since I'm in Solitude :/.

Guess I'm gonna get a perk "grow a set of balls" and get to it... DAMN! It will be hard. If you guys have any cool ideas, post them! I will tell you in 5 minutes if I made it... Oh my.

I hate spiders too. That's why I kill them all, even though I usually sneak through most other things.

My goal is to eliminate spiders as a species! (in real life as well)

If on the PC there is a mod to change them into bears.

Different people have different phobias.
Some people it's blood.
Some it's confined areas.
Some it's spiders.
Most of those saying 'grow a pair' probably have something that terrifies them that others might find amusing.

But yeah, OP, I feel your pain. There's very little things that I'm scared of, but creepy crawlies do me in like nobody's business. I usually go into third person and position my character so that it's inbetween the camera and the spider as much as possible, and then try to just focus on another part of the screen like my health bar, and only watch the combat through my peripheral vision.

Thank you for using the correct key. How people access the console by ~ (Which is ` + Shift) is a mystery to me.
