Fable III

Post » Sat Oct 23, 2010 2:42 am

So I caved into my friends requests and bought pre-ordered it the other day from Gamestop. I have to say I am fairly skeptical if this game will turn out good.Fable was a a really good game and then Fable 2 was pretty good, but it seems like Lionhead is implementing some more of its high risk high reward tactics.

Well is anyone else getting it?Thoughts?

Nah.

This, considering the very foundation of it is built on lies.

I'll wait until the game is released. From the lies PM told before Fable 2, I am very skeptical about F3.

Oooh. What were the lies? Sorry, I feel rather uncharactaristically uninformed... ;)

Maybe in a while, if the price gets low enough.

I really liked Fable 1, but the second one was quite bad, it was short, unrewarding, didn't play that well, had no drama, and it's "ending" or lack thereof was horrible, leaving tons of unfinished plot points (seriously, you leave the "death spire" in the end of some crazy enigmatic woman, no questions asked? Just forget about everything and go live a peaceful life, really? What a cop out!)

Hopefully they can fix the problems Fable 2 had.

I want to pick this up for PC... not sure when that will be because they won't announce a release date for it yet <_<

Im definitely getting it, that's for sure. There were two games I was psyched for the most. New Vegas and Fable III. New Vegas kinda failed, with all the bugs.

Fable III just might save the day! They've put a lot of work into it, and implemented several controversial new features, I hope it turns out okay. The "no-menu" system looks a bit iffy. And the whole "become the king" thing, which is like half the game seems a bit of a leap..

PM isn't lying, he's exaggerating reality. :twirl:
I for one want it. I need my Fry & Cleese fix. And a chance to finally play a Fable game again, what with MS returning to the market they should use much more, if this world would make any sense.

All of these, at once and on steroids. I'm avoiding Lionhead Studios like the [censored] plague.

I see a lot of people complaining that they got taken in by marketing. Fable 1 was pretty great and Fable 2 was decent, but if you hyped yourself up to think they were TEH BEST GAEM EVAR!111!!! you really only have yourself to blame, we all know well what a Peter Molyneaux game is by now, and how it's going to play. He may exaggerate and promise things he can't deliver, but would you rather have game developers aiming for high standards they probably won't achieve, or low standards that they will?

I would but after buying New Vegas I don't have enough funds left. Hopefully they still have CE's in a few months.

I was referring to the hype surrounding the first Fable, which was enough to doom his image as far as I'm concerned.
Fable 1 svcked, and of course Fable 2 had to svck. I was dumb enough to try that one as well.
THE BEST GAEM EVAR!111!!! really? I wasn't necessarily a teen in need of medication, but when PM actually says "this is going to be the best RPG ever" and he explains why, and what to expect in Fable 1 .... yeah, your expectations are pretty much up there. Because it's such a bold statement.
So my point was that F3 isn't getting a chance from me. And quite frankly, I don't give two craps that the king of Albion's brother doesn't like him, or whatever.
I would rather have competent developers make realistic claims and remain down to Earth, so that at least most of what they brag about actually exists in game.

Not that I doubt you but I did not pay attention to Fable before release. What were some of the things he promised but did not deliver on?

I'll probably get it eventually. Not now though. For one, I don't have the money to be spending on games right now. And two, I don't have the time to play games right now, so it wouldn't really matter.

Yeah, I will be buying it when I get the money, Fable has always provided me with a fun rp experience. As for Peter and his promises, I dont care if he cant follow through on them, the mere fact that he has such great ideas and plans, and he is willing to share them even though they are not set in stone, is really cool, in my opinion.
