I see a lot of people complaining that they got taken in by marketing. Fable 1 was pretty great and Fable 2 was decent, but if you hyped yourself up to think they were TEH BEST GAEM EVAR!111!!! you really only have yourself to blame, we all know well what a Peter Molyneaux game is by now, and how it's going to play. He may exaggerate and promise things he can't deliver, but would you rather have game developers aiming for high standards they probably won't achieve, or low standards that they will?
I was referring to the hype surrounding the
first Fable, which was enough to doom his image as far as I'm concerned.
Fable 1 svcked, and of course Fable 2
had to svck. I was dumb enough to try that one as well.
THE BEST GAEM EVAR!111!!! really? I wasn't necessarily a teen in need of medication, but when PM actually says "this is going to be the best RPG ever" and he explains why, and what to expect in Fable 1 .... yeah, your expectations are pretty much up there. Because it's such a bold statement.
So my point was that F3 isn't getting a chance from me. And quite frankly, I don't give two craps that the king of Albion's brother doesn't like him, or whatever.
I would rather have competent developers make realistic claims and remain down to Earth, so that at least
most of what they brag about actually exists in game.
