Fable'ish things I'd like to see

Post » Sat Sep 04, 2010 10:08 pm

I have played both Fable 2 and Oblivion...By far Oblivion was the better game however there were a couple of things in Fable 2 that I loved and even though most of them are mundane tasks they made me keep going back to play that game instead of Oblivion. So here they are and here's hoping they make they're way into Skyrim in some way or another...

1st - Being able to buy stores and houses / setting sale prices and rent
2nd - tattoo's!!!!! and die's to color your clothing and armor
3rd - Having a family
4th - THE SWINGER achievement / trophy!!!
5th - starting out in the game as a child building the character up certain point then time jumps to present day...in prison like usual...

changing the subject here real quick what would be kind of cool and funny at the same time would be like what they did in fallout 3...the part where you went into Hubris comic book building and you were able to play Grognak on the computer...well how about sometime in the game a Mage puts a spell on you or something and you go back and play one of the past TES games the older the better!
Any other ideas from other RPG's you'd like to see in Skyrim?

Interesting but unlikely. I kind of liked the fact I started out as a child in Fallout 3, but I don't see any chance of that happening in Skyrim. I like the idea of tatoos and dyes, more RPG choices the better!!!

As a fairly heavily tattoo'd person myself, I really like the idea of bringing that into the game.

Yea I have a bunch as well... Although I do not miss my Xbox'S because of the red ring of deaths that I aalways got on them I do miss 2 things 1st the xbox controller is so much better than the PS3's and even though Fable 2 was no where near as open worlded as any of the Elder Scrolls games that I've played I do miss the cool little things you could do in that game...

1: Maybe
2: Maybe
3: [censored] no
4: No
5: HELL NO

Why the hell would you want all that stupid social [censored] anyway? Having a family in Fable was a pointless any meaningless thing unless you did it online with your girlfriend or something. Starting off as a child was good in Fable 1, it set the whole story of revenge, in fable 2 it was okay as well but U don;t want to see it in TES. And really? you wanr an achievement for your screen fadign to black at a bed?

I liked that you could bump into NPCs and knock them off course and/or garner an annoyed reaction from them. That's about all I can think of.

fable 2 was a huge step backwards from Fable 1, only superior as a economic sim city entrepreneur game lol.

I agree that being able to have own stores would be a welcome addition to Skyrim, but thats the extent of it.

I think I said it elsewhere too, but if there is absolutely nothing of Fable in Skyrim, it will still be too much.
No, no Fable.
Awful games.

Have you tried the first fable game Fable: The Lost Chapters it's better than fable fable 2 and 3 combined.

The others don't belong in my Skyrim.

Fable TLC = amazing masterpiece game that I loved playing over and over and over
Fable II = HUGE step backwards from the original, upset at the loss of armor
Fable III = disgrace to the gaming community, deeply upset at the loss of armor and weapon variety and removal of anything good.

If they were going to add Fable elements, I'd prefer they be from Fable TLC.

That's not to say I want them to add Fable elements. TES and Fable are different types of games.

I'd be okay with tattoos and children, but I wouldn't be okay with six, marriage, etc.

The only thing I would like to see from the Fable franchise [read: Fable 2] in Skyrim, or the whole future os TES games, is to start off as a child. The actions you take could define your starting stats once you grow up.

1.) You can invest in stores in Oblivion, it's a Master Mercantile perk.
2.) I thought the tattoos were stupid looking in Fable and, to date, I have yet to see a Tattoo that wasn't stupid looking in real life.
3.) Why add one of the worst elements of the entire Fable series to Skyrim just for some atheistic realism?
4.) The humor for TES is decidedly different from Fable, and as such I have to decline.
5.) Don't see why everyone thinks this is such a bad idea, it was one of the best aspects of FO3. It allowed you to decide the back story of your character in a realistic and meaningful way. That being said, I don't think it would work for Skyrim so I have to say no.

Well maybe my Fable experience not complete I playing only in Fable TLC, some things was good like changes in age and player appearance, bar minigames and fishing, some not like passageway and rooms not open world and lack of normal dialogues, its only my opinion but conversations based only on emotions from Sims have no place in RPG. Fable is an fable fairy tale for child's yes it has some twists for advlts but fairy tales of brothers Grimm also have similar features, TES more like writings of Walter Scott, J. R. R. Tolkien or M. J. Moorcock.

1.) It's a possibility. I would like to see it work slightly different than in Fable, but if implemented correctly, it may work.
2.) Couldn't agree more. Tatoo's and dye's are an essential to an RPG. (So long as they look realistic)
3.) No
4.) No
5.) I really like the "childhood" mode that was in both FO3 and Fable 2. I think it is a good idea.

I was expecting to see a lot more irrationally mindless Fable hate in this thread, tbh.

Edit: Im actually more a Fable series fan than I am a TES series fan, but I still dont want any marriage/kids/sims in TES games. Actual fame/infamy renown recognition is fine, so is cosmetic options, but its not really a social game like Fable is.

Even Fable TLC was an over-hyped, over-rated game. But it had some good ideas. They were poorly executed, but they were good ideas none-the-less.
