Faces

What do you think of the face gen system of oblivion would you want more realistic faces for the Nords, Imperials breton etc, and better faces that match the npc's personality?

Doesn't have to be mass effect standard, but an improvement would be good.

Yeah this is far too vague, and reveals nothing about the communities' wishes other than for an improvement, which for a sequel to a 4 year-old game is taken as inevitable.

Maybe designing the poll to make a list of different facial improvements, with members able to vote on what they feel is most important would be better. For example: textures, polygon count, subsurface scattering, animations, eyes etc.

The face generation was quite OK in OB. What i would like to see however, is some preset faces and some real facial hair too.

Edit: i voted yes.

What I'd like to see is different head meshes within the same race as presets or whatever-- a gaunt face, a square-jawed space marine look, a pudgier face, etc. that could then be customized upon with the sliders for more unique looks. And, of course, continue what they started in Fallout 3 with different head sets for different ages. Also, Bethesda, the technology is there, you can do longer hair without it clipping through the person's neck, so make it so!

TES needs more people with faces wrinkled like a prune to an absurd level.

I voted NO. I really don't care about the faces. I wish the devs (if TES V is in development) would not focus graphics (ZOMG ROFL LOLZ) but on gameplay, lore and depth instead.

It's kinda immersion breaking whenever I see somebody's face in Oblivion, so yes.

Well one thing we can confirm is that the next TES V will have beards because Fallout 3 had beards. So we've had some progress there.

The skin textures could be better and the eyes could look a lot better. I think fallout 3's eyes were a step in the wrong direction...and thats if we simply compare a regular NPC to an imperial of Oblivion.

Fallout added tremendously pruney faces, so i'm sure it wouldn't be hard to do the same in the next TES.

I wonder if they could model NPC's on the voice actors face.

Especially since they all use the same few select faces with the same generic voice overs...

If you're talking about the first ME, I thought their faces looked worse in a much more artificial way. It might have been "the uncanny valley" :P

I haven't tried the second (nor have I finished the first) yet :P

Can we get randomly placed moles on people? I mean... I have yet to see someone without at least one.

I'll say yes, as long as it doesn't detract from development of more important issues.

My suggestion is to have more than one editable base face again, if you have already different base face shapes this would severely reduce the "stretched to fit rubber mask" look faces have so far as they are not just squashed and pulled into a certain shape.
Also for Argonians and Khajiit the face types can actually look quite different from each other so they'd have more race diversity too. For Khajiit there could be a wild cat one, one that looks more like a housecat and one that's almost fully human with some catlike features, this would even work to represent their different breeds. Argonians could have a long and thin raptor like one, a rounder Iguana like head and a more pointy monitor lizard like one.

Better be mass effect standard, it'll be two years younger for goodness sake.
