Facial Hair question

Damn it Hitler, you just had to go a ruin a perfectly good facial hair style!

You could just say you wear the JJJ, or the Chaplin.

Wear a bowler hat and carry a walking stick, then?

Exactly. Or become editor-in-chief at a newspaper, rant about vigilantes and yell at people.

I think only a few men can pull of the facial hair look well - and if they can, it always looks awesome. However, most definitely look better without... Just my opinion.

I like my chin beard and it will stay there until I want a new style. Even if others think I look bad with it, I enjoy it. Course there are other styles I want that I just can't have cause it's not in my genes.

Beard = really irritating on the significant other's face.

Just sayin'...

:whisper: Shhh... don't tell anyone that I told you, but there is a giant anti-beard conspiracy at work here, fueled by the beard-haters in Hollywood (all those "men" who can't grow beards and therefore couldn't get real jobs and now act for a living).

I heard it from a fella who knows a guy who swears its true. :whistling:

I have facial hair because I'm lazy pretty much...allthough I do like the facial hair I have, I just shorten the sideburns and trim the goatee a bit every now and then. When it gets too long to trim though, I just get rid of it all though.
I mainly shave when it's either way to long to even trim properly or if I'm bored and have nothing better to do.

ive always wondered since i always have a clean face if i let my beard grow out would it really grow out fast and thick? or is that just crap?

THe growth of facial hair is determined by genetics. The prescence of the enzyme 5 alpha reductase converts the testosterone to dihydrotestosterone, which facilitiates the rapid growth of facial hair.
(Both males and females make testosterone and estrogen in their [censored] and ovaries, respectively. Men make more testosterone, women more estrogen, normally.) If you are genetically predispositioned to not produce large quantities o this particular enzyme, your facial hair will not be as pronounced. Facial hair grows at a more rapid rate. Consider yourself fortunate, you will also be less likely to go bald. The same enzyme and hormonal substance responsible for facial hair growth also causes particular areas of the scalp to grow and shed hair more rapidly, resulting in male pattern baldness.

While I find facial hair on men wonderfully masculine, it's prescence has nothing to do with how manly a man is.

I'm on the left with black shirt and sunglasses looking up, the day my brother and I infiltrated a naval base and nobody even noticed us.

I look weird without my facial hair. I tried it for a while.

And there's always http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CiJpT6tKVDg to consider.

(and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFyHTU8tg_0 if you still don't like beards)

For me, beard is the symbol of manliness! I just shaved about a week ago and I looked horrible. Growing my beard back, millimter by millimeter...

Your facial hair would only grow like that if you were already genetically predispositioned to such hair growth. Though, if you've been clean shaven since puberty, it might be worth growing it out to see if you've got the hair for it. (beards that is)

I only keep a full beard either if I'm coming in the third sequel of a game or movie... Either that or if I have failed in a quest for love.

My wife likes my beard. I shaved it for Halloween once and she took my razor away until it grew back.

It's just a style thing. I do find it amusing when people emphasize them as a manliness thing while handily ignoring the fact that they're basically gushing over a fashion accessory.

Besides, it's http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2004/01/28/.

I really hate having both fast beard growth and extremely sensitive skin. One or the other would be fine, but together it's like, "here's some woman to balance out the man!"

Facial hair is lame. Don't get it. It's much better to be a clean and shaved than a bearded twit.

Who you calling lame? We, from the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1159105-grow-a-beard-for-skyrim-2/ take offense!

/playful facetiousness

Except neckbeards, always shave neckbeards.

Indeed. I let it grow for a short while (1-1.5CM or so.) now that my beard is longer, it hides it better.

I'm normally a clean shaven, or a few days stubble kinda guy but as the above denotes, I've grown it out in anticipation of Skyrim. I've never had one this long before, and it's growing on me. Literally and figuratively.

I'm growing one as we speak. A bit patchy though  . Though the longer a let it go, the more the softer areas fill in, so I am going to stick to it. Wish me luck. Manliness here I come.

Just to chime in, I have to say that me without a beard is not a pretty sight. At the very least, I need a few hours worth of stubble(I grow beards extremely fast, runs in my family). Two years ago I completely shaved off my facial hair, and I swear I looked like a freaking pedophile. I'm pretty certain mothers probably gripped their children a bit tighter when I walked by completely shaven. Even my wife agreed(course, she likes my beard).

Also, I think it somewhat depends on what kind of community you live in for whether or not beards really look right or not. I myself, A: Live on top of a mountain(So I have the image of a mountain man to uphold), and B: the nearest town is less then 1700 population and full of men who have beards. On the other hand, if you live in NYC, beards tend to be frowned upon I think

Beards are fun and all, and i've even sportted some pretty good ones, but once your wanting to get a job companies generally see beards as being "unkept".....and even though there shouldn't be a bias it's usually best to go clean shaven.
