Now now, you wouldn't want to make my beard angry. You wouldn't like it when http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR1VgBl9e0meqYLTFcd9b73-lObrgFnkxPRJikJ9oRb3FLPuWBuAQ&t=1.

A little off topic, I read that in Nunu's voice. Not sure if you know who I'm talking about. Weird.

Beard = really irritating on the significant other's face.
Just sayin'...
From a woman's point of view, and all that...

Well, more and more women prefer men without beard. It's true that a couple of days beard is irritating but after a few weeks, it's actually quite soft... for facial hair.

My wife likes my beard. I shaved it for Halloween once and she took my razor away until it grew back.

Good girl! I would do the same.

Beard is not about manhood, or looking manly, it's about showing that you are a grown man. That is, even if you shave, you'll still have that sign that you shave and therefore, you're not a boy anymore.

Beard is like hair style, some style look better on some people and not on others. You have to find what's right for your own face.

Oh, and for people wanting to expand their facial presence, waiting until November gives you a good excuse for the first few weeks, which are the scrappiest looking. For those who haven't guessed, that excuse is http://www.movember.com/.

On the topic of beard styles, plaited beards can be pretty cool looking. Dependant on the natural resources you've got to play with, as usual. Generally best accompanied by a generous serve of head hair.

I usually just keep sideburns. But I stopped shaving my chin a while ago. It's not all that long but I like it.

Don't make the Yeti angry, you wouldn't like him when he's angry!

Of course I know, I've played League of Legends since early beta. :D

I also took to not shaving partially because my skin is somewhat sensitive as well. Even when wet shaving I could break out after a shave and itch for days.

My only problem is how long it takes to start really growing a mustache. Its been about 7 months and my mustache is finally starting to come in and darken, while my beard had grown enough to be several inches long (of course, I kept it in check and made sure I didn't have a neck beard. That's just ugly).

A good electric shaver works wonders, for me there's no itchiness. The downside is the shave isn't as close.

Beards only work if you can grow a FULL one.

If it's patchy and looks gross, don't do it. And for heavens sake, don't grow a chinstrap with a mustache.

It's either full beard, http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_473nrD5vEv8/SzNb6rlM5tI/AAAAAAAACIU/lDpJ1wFaTNs/s400/handlebar-mustache.jpg or nothing.

That's why I use electric, then finish with a hand razor. I almost always dry shave as well.

I do too, the hubs has grown his out since he is home on short term disability leave. He puts conditioner in it, makes it nice and soft. I like it because it tickles, and I am a naughty girl. It's gone all salt and pepper now, his beard, very attractive. :)

The hubs does have sensitive skin, so when he shaves, he uses a little Aramis shaving concotion that leaves him for the most, ingrown hair free. He also uses a disposable razor, tosses it after the first use. Dirty razors make nasty bumps. He also has an electric razor, but he only uses that for trimming his beard.

Nope, the electric shaver, it does nothing. Its nice for being lazy, but it still doesn't help me that much. I mean, it DOES help, but I still end up breaking out somewhat.

I do have very thick hair, however. I mean VERY thick. After a normal haircut the floor of the barber shop will be covered in about an inch of hair, even though I usually only let my hair get down to my eyebrows at the most (it starts to piss me off afterwards). So the shaver has a lot of trouble getting through that sometimes, instead of cutting it will just yank a hair out. Even when it was brand new.

I do, however, really love the beard trimmer on it. Its great for keeping my beard in shape and getting rid of ugly neckbeards when they eventually form. Also helps me to get my beard out from behind my jaw (my beard wraps all the way around my face, from sideburn to sideburn and also behind my jawbone).

I need aid, while on the topic of beards.

My boyfriend has a beard, right? Well. He let's it grow on his neck. I despise it but he won't get rid of it because he doesn't like the itching when he shaves it. I tell him if he just shaves regularly he'll get used to it and it won't itch so badly. He still won't do it! Surely, it's not that big of a deal, but his beard itself always is scratchy, making kissing not as pleasant as it should be. I can definitely not kiss his neck either, because it's just as bad! (Of course, it's not ALL over his neck.. but you get my meaning)

Aid!

Tell him that unless he starts shaving his face, you'll stop shaving your legs.

Great plans!

Only problem with the second is that he's a hippie and just told me he wouldn't care if my legs were hairy ;_;

Ah. There's one. I think I'm probably doomed to his beard for eternity. I just have to make sure it doesn't grow down to his knees or something. He just loves that thing too much. That scratchy, evil thing of the devil.

Women usually have most of the power in a relationship, a simple...embargo would probably get him to shave. Hell, my ex used to flat out refuse to kiss me if I had the slightest bit of facial hair.

I can't grow much on my face as it happens, sparse blonde whiskers for the most part. and it takes about 2 days to actually notice it from a distance. I keep clean shaven because not only does it look better than my awful facial hair, having said hair makes me itch like crazy when I'm warm.

Oh god. Neckbeards are disgusting.

Tell him that if he wants a beard to at least grow one properly. That's more effort than just clean shaving so maybe he'll do the latter.

Your facial hair would only grow like that if you were already genetically predispositioned to such hair growth. Though, if you've been clean shaven since puberty, it might be worth growing it out to see if you've got the hair for it. (beards that is)

i should, my family has a tendency to have slow beard growth

Ok, so I've had the same style beard for about five years. I got out of highschool so I wasn't in MCJROTC anymore and I wanted some hair. Just a simple goatee with some trimmed sideburns. (Not giant nasty facial hair. I like to look clean.) Sometimes, if I get lazy (Read: Sick.) I wont shave for a week or two. I'll have a nasty beard starting and I gotta spend the 20 minutes cutting it back.

Now my question....What is a neckbeard? I don't think hair is supposed to grow on your throat...

EDIT: A quick google search found it. The barbarian look is not in, fellas. No matter how interested in the new TES you are, they still aren't in style. And that's a good thing.
