Faction Vs Campaign Start

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 6:36 pm

I recently had a chat with some friends of mine discussing which campaign we were going to complete first, and I'd like to extend that discussion to you.

We all know we are going to play both campaigns at some point. But which are you going to do first? Explain why, regardless of your primary multiplayer faction. Are you going to create another character dedicated for the alternate faction, maybe experiment with other classes and abilities, or use your original character for more primary XP gain? Add anything else you think is relevant to the discussion.

I'm also interested since my own initial campaign run is undecided, so some advice and ideas are appreciated.

I'll be playing as both, although I prefer Security. I'll probably play the Security campaign first.

From what Ive really garnered from various interviews is that the security side of things seem to be more complex than resistance. The resistance is fighting for freedom and water, but the secuirty views the resistance as glorified terrorists, so I think the story will flow alot better when the real "bad guys" of Brink show their faces at the end. Of course I could be completely wrong and the resistance story is just as intriguing, if not more so.

I'm playing the Security campaign first, then making another character for the resistance. The reason for this is so that i have 2 characters that i can use during multiplayer and still have things to unlock, and tryout with out having one level 17 character, that starts to get boring after your rank 20

I Voted both resistance but now that I think about it. I'll go Resistanxe on multiplayer and Security on campaign first. Why? Because I want to save the best Story(Resistance) for last

My vote is for...
"I'm going to play as Resistance and complete the Resistance campaign first"

Why? The whole rebel, stick it to the man, fight for the people, down with the government and all that jazz.
All to easy seeing myself as a freedom fighter where its very difficult seeing myself as a goverment lackey fighting against the people.
I also think the resistance side looks better

With that being said... resistance will be my main but I will complete both sides of the story and will have a security toon within the first couple of days.
Wont be the same unless I have lots of different builds, with my main (Resistance/Medium/Soldier) feeding all the little alts

Long Live the Resistance!

I'm Security all the way. I plan to join the marines when I get out of college and I love the clean, armored look of the Security. I have been security for years.

Mercenaries unite! ...and then disperse to whichever faction you currently prefer. Which for me is Security. Because with them I can look like the guy in my sig. :disguise:

After some debate with myself I ended up voting Resistance/Resistance. I know I'll be playing the Resistance campaign first, but it was a close call between Resistance and Mercenary; I decided to represent the Resistance with my vote, though since I prefer them. I'll play as Security when I need to, I've got no problem with that. Given the choice I'll be Resistance, though. Both sides are cool in their way, I just personally prefer the Resistance.

Sorry for my repetitive ramblings, I've got a bad toothache today and am less than coherent, and don't feel like trying to rework the above paragraph. Should I say 'Resistance' a few more times? Resistance. Yeah...

I have no idea. I'm going to load up the game and fiddle with my looks in both and decide which one I prefer and start from there.

Well not really. We mercs don't prefer either the Resistance or Security. We just play for the highest bidder. They are not a third faction in Brink.

I'm a mercenary that will end up playing the Security campaign first because me and a friend agreed that we would play through the entire campaign together, we might do the Resistance campaign together as well.

I was going to play the Resistance, but the Security kind of rubbed off on me and I like them much more now.

I want to play the Security side first because...well, let me explain it.

If BRINK was a book, the Security would be the first book. Then, the sequel or 2nd Edition of the book would be released as the Resistance, showing their side and their struggles. I want to see it from the side that truly thinks they are doing what's right and they are the bigger power. Then, I want to see what the Resistance thinks of themselves and how their story unfolds. :obliviongate:

Otter, are you going to make a thread about every talk we have?

Anyway, everyone knows I love the Resistance. HOWEVER, I will play the Security first because I want to know how they operate, and because it's like I would still be in the war because they stay on the Ark.

Only the awesome stuff that is actually interesting and would make for original topics with half-decent discussion. Or would you rather see "OH HAI GAIZ SO BRINK L00KS PRTY K00L WAT KLASS U GONNA PLAY?" again for, I don't know, about the quadrillionth time? :banghead:

I'm thinking about doing the same for a different reason:

If my character is allowed to switch factions with impunity, I may well use the Security campaign to "grind" my main up several levels, and then play in the Resistance campaign with a more useful, skilled, and specialized character, better suited to succeed than before. Since my enemies and allies will level up with me, my Resistance run will remain a challenge and therefore be just as or more rewarding and fun, while hopefully resembling the multiplayer experience better.

We should play the Resistance one together. I'll do the challenges after I beat the Security if you still don't have it by then. ^_^

Sure. Assuming the delivery happens at the same time Reach did, I'll get it about 2pm Eastern, but I won't be able to start playing it until I get off at 6. Games need to not come out in the middle of the week. :pinch:

Oh, I forgot I didn't post the one part in my original reply to you. I cut it into Notepad to tell you later or edit into my reply to you. Part now posted below.

Speaking of multiplayer, I caved. I'm getting it day of release, so you and I can co-op the game if you really want. I still think a solo immersion experience would be most ideal for me (I did the same with Reach, just six hours straight of solo campaign, not a hint of co-op or multiplayer till I finished) but I suppose I would not be object to opening my first playthrough to limited co-op.
