Now, given how the game's pretty much oriented around the spy vs spy kind of scenario, but everyone knows of you and every of your alliances.
That sometimes makes me feel weird about it, getting confronted by Ayo, Maxson or Desdemona and realising they know in advance whatever action i am going to take, i must be terribad as a secret agent or everyone in the commonwealth got some real telepathic power.
I like to play in-character and dressing my char accordingly to what i am going to do, even if i realise that shouldn't be too common, not going into the Institute with BoS uniform, not going to the Prydwen dressed as a courser and so on, but that would actually give some original, amazing options which are completely left out.
But what surprised me the most, after New Vegas experience, after getting to the fort / airport dressed as a poor legionary / ncr soldier , killing my targets and getting out pretty much untouched, is that the surroundings knows your weapons or comment about you carrying too many weapons, for example.
There are pretty much multiple occasions in which you could've different options based on how you're dressed, that would also take out the complex of wearing continuously the BIS items of the moment and trying a different, more tactical, more subtle, approach.
Imagine freeing the guy for the Big Dig quest dressed as a DC guard, for example.
Or dressing as a triggerman while going to free Valentine, and fighting your way back when they discover how you've played them.
That to not go through the whole main quest, with a disguise option for the "airship down" quest, for example, would make it way more believable rather than facetanking alone a whole army just to get to the generators.
This could also enforce charisma / dialogue checks in order to don't blow your cover along the way.
I find somehow sad that they completely disregarded this aspect in a game in which would've shined alot.
What do you think? would you like (if it was possible) a disguise mechanic to be introduced into the game or not?
