Factions you would like to see in Fallout 4?

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 3:58 pm

What factions would you like to see in Fallout 4? Personally, I want to see the BoS and the Enclave. As long as those two factions are in there, I'm a happy camper.

I'd like to let the Enclave rest and only a small portion of the BoS be present (like a scouting force or something).

What I really want to see is the Railroad and the Institute because we have already been lead to believe there is more to these two factions than meets the eye.

I'd like to see the Midwestern Brotherhood of Steel and prehaps a more morally grey (and joinable), version of the Enclave

Something new and refreshing (and fitting!) would be nice - they really, really, really should not bring back BoS or Enclave anymore in other than very, very small roles at most (even smaller than in New Vegas) - the same old tiring consepts as major factors again would be just be a bore. There's much more potential in Fallout setting than constant recycling of the same old factions.

I'd like to see a faction based on a comic book. Like a faction based off of Superman: Red Son.

It'd be good to see them all there in some form, even if their roles are not very dominant.
They could make for some interesting side quests to weave the events of the games together.

But new factions should and probably will dominate FO4, and that'll be rad.

Indeed, I like what Tactics did in that regard Undecaf.

You had raiders, beastlords, the Reaver movement, and the humaniod robots. Along with the returning Super mutants.

I think it would actually be kinda cool to see the Reaver's again.

I'd like to not see Enclave or BOS at all in FO4.
But if it's going to follow up on FO3's events then it's inevitable for BOS and remnants to show up at some point.

Assuming it's set on the East Coast, I want to hear about the BOS, but not actually see them. I'd like it to be set in the Commonwealth, and want all factions in that game to be exclusive to that area. I wouldn't mind hearing about what the BOS are doing in D.C., but I don't actually want to see them. Not as an organized force anyway. The Commonwealth is an actual nation, and I'd find it hard to believe they'd let the BOS penetrate their borders.

They have an actual government, with an organized police force and everything. I think it's safe to say they're a nation.

No, the Commonwealth Police is (obviously) the police force of the Commonwealth, and the Synth Retention Bureau is a special branch of that police force. They work for the Commonwealth, not the Institute. The Institute is simply a facility located inside the Commonwealth.

I would like to see Midwestern BoS. Chances are FO4 will be close to FO3 so guessing there will be the commonwealth. Super Mutants that went east after the death of the Master as seen in Tactics. No Enclave, I am tired of them. Rements of Enclave in FO3 but nothing as big as they were, Advanced MkII armour this time.

As long as the Factions are not as black and white as they are in FO3.

How could the wiki say different when I personally edited the articles for the Commonwealth, the Synth Retention Bureau, Androids and The Institute? Would you care showing me exactly where it "says different?"

Everything I just told you came from the G.E.C.K., and even if the wiki does say different, it's the wiki that's wrong.

Its just i dont see anything to do with a nation. Police is on its own, Institute works with police only on Synth Retention Bureau. Commonwealth itself isnt like NCR. But that just my opinion.

You're right in that it doesn't say it's a nation, but I think it's pretty clear they are. Mostly because of the aforementioned police force, the fact that in the Replicated Man quest, it was mentioned that the Commonwealth, not the Institute, tried to cover-up the fact that an android was on the run, and because the area is named after the Commonwealth of Massachusetts with "of Massachusetts" removed, hinting that it is not simply a lawless wasteland like D.C. is.

Also, on the wiki page for the Commonwealth, it says that the Synth Retention Bureau only captures escaped androids from the Institute, when it actuality this is not the case. Like Harkness who worked for the Synth Retention Bureau, androids seem to be integrated into the society of the Commonwealth. I would attempt to correct the wiki however the moderators there are strict to the point of actually making it difficult to add anything new, as if they don't want to see any previously unknown lore added. I was lucky to get the small amount of information I did on the wiki.

Am I the only one who thinks that the institute is ridiculous?

Why?

I just don't get the whole Androids thing, the US in places like Raven Rock, a continuity of government base, has a sentient AI the size of a... Vertibird Hanger. Yet after a nuclear war this Institute has the resources to build sentient AI's in convincing human forms (with even artificial blood, digestive systems and as Harkness says "he cut himself shaving"?) AFTER a nuclear war and can apartently build so many of them and so many escape that the Institutes Police Force has a special unit to track them down and a whole underground network of sympathisers has been set up to help them escape. I think it's just a Blade Runner reference taken too far.

I know the institute is supposed to be MIT but it's just too far in my opinion.

Advanced MkII armour this time.

Actually the Enclave Armor in Fallout 3 was an improved version of the West Coast MkII. (Bethesda was just to lazy to insert one I after the other 2).
I also think it is inevitable that the BOS will be in the next game if it is set on the east coast. I wouldn't mind it but they would have to get rid of the T-45d's and upgrade to repainted Enclave armor possibly. The Enclave needs to go away but i wouldn't mind seeing one more small base where the last enclave tell you how the enclave fell apart and maybe even have one of the soldiers as a companion.

First off, it's not the "Institute's Police Force." Zimmer specifically says the "Commonwealth Police," and you can look it up in the G.E.C.K. if you need proof. It may not seem like a big difference, but it is.

Second, we don't know the circumstances behind how they manged to get so technologically advanced. Bethesda may very well come up with a good reason for it. I'm holding back my criticisms until they give us more lore about it, hopefully in Fallout 4.

I can see you reasoning that with a whole set of states under it's control the Institute might have access to enough raw materials (I assume this is your arguement) but doesn't Zimmer say that most of them Commonwealth is blastest marshland except from the sealed environment of the Institute? I want an explaination but I doubt I will get something satisfactory, the Androids seem way too advanced.
