Faendal Disappeared

Post » Thu Aug 09, 2012 7:47 am

I took Faendal along with me into Blackreach to get the Elder Scroll. Although his job was to help me, MY purpose is to give him my loot until he can carry it no more and then send me back to Riverwood.

Now normally, this works perfect. I give him everything I can, send him back to Riverwood, and when I get back to Riverwood I re-collect my loot and sell them.

But not this time. Faendal was at near-death after we fought some Falmer, so I decided it best to send him home. I told him to part ways and he began to leave. Just to be safe, I rested for an hour and continued my quest.

Unfortunately he is NOT is Riverwood! Nor is he in his house! He is nowhere. And it's been several in-game days. He has some enchanted items and some other expensive loot on him which I would like to have back... but he is nowhere to be found.

Followers can die on the way back home if they run into monsters after you dismiss them bro.

But I thought that by resting it would counter-act that because it instantly puts them at their destination?

Are you saying that when I rested, sometime while I was doing so he ran across a monster and died?

I have not had much success with Faendal in Blackreach. As a matter of fact if you enter through Mzark Tower he won't come with you. I always use Healing Hands on my followers after each battle and always accompany them back to their home town before releasing them. Often times when I go back to Riverwood to get Faendal it takes all day to find him. He likes chopping firewood and on several occasions I had to wait right there for 20 hrs. 1 hour at a time. Before he showed up. He may be stuck in Blackreach. He does that often in my game.

Well... we were in the Dwemer ruins at the time... when you first start seeing the Falmer. We weren't in Black Reach at the time. But he probably is stuck somewhere in there. Oh well.
One thing that I've always thought was cool but annoying was the fact that NPC's who are part of quests or followers could die permanently.

if you use PC you can teleport to him or make him teleport to you.

I do not have it on PC. RTS, RTT, or Management games belong on PC in my opinion.

Followers do not instantly travel back to their locations, it's take game time. Give it a few more days and he might show up. Of course, as noted above, he could have gotten killed along the way too.

Hm...I'm not sure if that would work like that...but I don't think a few hours is enough time for him to travel back to Riverwood anyway.
