Failed Companion Opportunities

Post » Sat Jan 16, 2016 10:15 pm

Here are a few NPC's I wish were companions. Hawthorne, Fahrenheit, Travis Miles or Vadim, Pickman, Kent, and K.L.E.O

Honestly Hawthorne is awesome all around. Friendly, knowledgeable about the wasteland, and funny

Fahrenheit is a badass, and shes HOT. Looks better than Piper imo.

Travis Miles or Vadim could of been used interactively. If you take Travis with you Vadim takes over the radio and it leads to some looney Radio bits

Vice Versa if it were Vadim, Travis'd take over the bar and customers would complain. I just need a Russian companion ok!!!

Pickmans for stealth users and for the darker tone/feel. Need a crazy in the group, Strong is just comic relief honestly not scary

Kent, well what would the Silver Shroud be without his friend Rent Reinhart!!!

And KLEO because she seems far more fun than Codsworth and a lot dirtier than Curie

Thoughts? Addition?

I wanted Scribe Haylen to team up with me. Never cared too much for Danse, he's super bossy.

Except most of them have day jobs and responsibilities that stop them from doing that. Pickman isn't the kind of guy that goes head first into battle and Fahrenheit is both Hancock's bodyguard and the person who controls the strong arm of his gang.

Also would of been a good one. With the option of chasing her alliance. OMG that should of been a mission! Gone Rogue: that let you save your companions from your opponent faction by turning them, giving them proof of their factions wrong doings

And piper runs a news paper and cares for her sister(by which I mean literally walks out on her for a guy in Blue spanks saying hes 200 years old and is looking for little boys...yea Piper hell of a caretaker), Hancocks literally the mayor and walks out on a whim, Danse is supposed to be running BoS out of Cambridge Police not baby sitting his student, so yeah day job means little in FO. And like I said Pickmans for stealth, perfect for melee assassin types and such. Would make more sense for Fahrenheit to join than Hancock on account of hes a Mayor and needs to run a city n all.

Hawthorne was one of the first people that I encountered in Diamond City, and when he immediately started giving me tips for surviving in the wasteland, I automatically just assumed he'd at least be involved in a quest, if not fully recruitable. I kept waiting for it to happen...and it just didn't. As you said, this feels like a huge missed opportunity.

I'd also love to be able to recruit Scribe Haylen as a companion. I just like her all around.

I don't really care much for either Travis or Vadim, so I could take it or leave it as far as they're concerned.

Fahrenheit is really cool, but she's definitely not hotter than Piper. That may simply be because her look isn't to my taste, but Piper is definitely the most gorgeous woman in the Commonwealth. ;)

Lmao God I love Strong, hes actually pretty funny. Piper once says, "Sheesh you super mutants aren't that much prettier up close" to which Strong responds with, " Strong can say same about little lady." I was floored.

Would love to see that. Also like the idea of changing her alliance. From her tape it would appear she already questions the BoS methods at least.

Glory with the RR would be fantastic. Just love her personality. And to romance her would be incredible. I can only imagine what her lines would be like. Too bad she's with the RR though.

Finally got Strong as a companion. He's funny. Nicky V was great too especially for terminals. But he kept bugging me about those stupid tapes. A companion that would have been bad ass would have been Cricket with a Syringer rifle and making her own syringes with her chems. Her dialogue would have been funny too.

Not sure about Hayley changing side, she stated she wouldn't hesitate to kill you if she suspects you wants to harm the BoS. She has a crush on Rhys, and she doesn't betray Danse even when he was revealed to be a synth. She seems to be very loyal. I doubt she would change side. Most alliance dependent companions wouldn't change side when you think about it. X6 believes in everything the Institute does and Deacon wanted to make up to his wife by saving synth and Desdemona basically gives him a purpose in life. The only person I think that could possibly change side is Danse.

Spoiler
Not changing sides so much as to just not trying to kill me if I have to put down the BoS. She does strongly disagree with what the BoS wants to do to Danse, even speaking up to the point to where she is threatened with charges. I would hope that BoS isn't so ingrained that she would rather die than betray after that. But, at the same time she does seem rather loyal. I think you'd have to find some real dirt on the BoS, like them having settlers killed or something for her to drop them.

Still, I feel it could have been done. I mean RR essentially dooms synths to extinction you could approach Deacon from that angle, of course it would require a hell of a lot of speech checks. As for X6-88, simple. Show him that the commonwealth deserves to live maybe via a sidequest involving a rogue synth acting as a surrogate parent to an orphan caused by the institute. Have Father demand they both be executed and give you the option to intervene, if you've max affinity and pass a couple of speech checks he can refuse to do his mission. All of these scenarios of course will result in being deemed a traitor and you can only complete 2 per playthrough. I feel itd work like that?

She already disobeyed the BoS, seeing as she comes over to play with Danse and bring him clothes and food whenever she can. That is also because she's loyal. Just as with Danse, even when Danse is exiled, he still fights for the Brotherhood. With Scribe Haylen, if she were a synth instead, I could probably see her take the same path as Danse, probably not running away but just accept her death. I could probably see her having very similar moral to Danse anyway like hate doing illegal things, like to help the innocent settlers regardless whether they're humans or ghouls. She's probably just be less like your mother like Danse and nag less. If you did destroy the BoS, even if she doesn't attack you, she would probably want nothing to do with you like Danse did. I don't see Scribe Haylen ever betray the BoS.

Like sending troops to "negotiate" for crops? Sure you can buy the crops but if the farmers refuse your orders are to literally take by force.

I'm not sure that's a direct order from the BoS. More like one of those things where they need supplies and you get them ... and they don't ask how you did it. All justified by the BoS's need to maintain an army in the Commonwealth. I think that trader with the BoS is a little shady anyway.

Sure hope that your character is totally ok with the way Kellog did things, especially when kidnapping Shawn by killing your wife.

What makes you think I would be? I've never killed any settlers nor would I justify it.

Honestly if the settlement already belongs to the MM I leave it alone. If not I'll buy them or something I guess. Haven't really done this quest much.

I ship Rhys and Haylen. Something about a jerk+caring person as a couple make a very interesting couple dynamics. Danse and Haylen just seem to be too peaceful. Plus, Haylen has a crush on Rhys. I will go down with this ship.

Because you wrote: "More like one of those things where they need supplies and you get them ... and they don't ask how you did it."

If your character is okay with that way of thinking then he should not complain too much about what happened to his wife.

It makes no sense for me why Deacon isn't angry at the RR since they're the reason neither he or his wife knew

Spoiler
she was a synth. I'd guess that if they knew, they'd be more cautious and possibly avoid her death?

As for missed companion opportunities, I was really hoping you could somehow recruit Edward Deegan. i'd also travel with Zeke as a Butch 2.0. Tina De Luca would make a lot of sense too, and many people like her already so I don't know why they didn't make her a companion.

But if it wasn't for the RR,

Spoiler
he would never have met his wife in the first place since she would still be at the Institute
