Is it fair to say the United States government is truly dead

Post » Mon Feb 01, 2010 11:45 pm

I just think that its simply not true. There are definitely some similarities, and some strong connections, but it is simply not the same thing. And the moment you say USA, all people think about is USA, not enclave usa. USA, it will confuse most people, and I just generally don't see them as the same thing.

You are saying that we shoudn't call them the USA because people will start to think thats what the real U.S. is like? I would trust that people would be able to tell the difference between what is in a game and what is reality, canon be damned. In all my time of talking to people about the Fallout series I have never heard one person ask me "Is that what the real U.S. is like?"

What I mean is, if you say the Enclave is the USA, I got the idea that there were a bunch of settlements that the USA formed and called themselves the Enclave, and they are slowly bringing back the USA

Ever read the book Life as We Knew It?
After the 'end of the world' happened, there were some government officials that came back, and started lending a helping hand.

In F3, I ACTUALLY THOUGHT, that the Enclave was the USA, like, in all senses of that term.

Its simply not so.

Well obviously the USA in of itself doesnt exist, there are no united states, they dont exist anymore, only in historical texts, the only thing making it america is that its on the continent of north america, at the moment its ncr, north western brotherhood, east coast brotherhood, commonwealth, the pitt, and what other areas that have survived and are self governing entities.

The enclave just hoped to be the continuation of government, of what was the USA but it got blasted to hell with no unity even after the 200 or so years, and its not as if it was a great unifying force the ncr seems to be doing a better job of that, so what they hoped to be continuation of government didnt end up that way, and the old US government basically died with the war no matter what politicians you stick in a hole in the ground or an oil rig, honestly if an organised group well armed go and kill them all they are no more, anyone could basically call themselves whatever they want, im the president and so's my wife. All the documents that are the so called basis for the US government are at the moment in my version anyways, being held by an old guy in a rusting hulk of a carrier and are basically mere curiosities of a time gone by and have no more meaning than a piece of toilet paper.

Whatever groups that can hold an area with enough people, with food and water to survive and hold off the local fauna, and whatever people that try to take their land by force will be the people that govern that area.

The US government in whatever form is dead, its not pinin'! 'Its passed on! This government is no more! It has ceased to be! Its expired and gone to meet 'its maker!

'Its a stiff! Bereft of life, it rests in peace! Its pushing up the daisies!

'Its metabolic processes are now 'istory! Its off the twig!

Its kicked the bucket, Its shuffled off 'is mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisibile!! THIS IS AN EX-GOVERNMENT!!

Can't be any ruder than going onto a forum populated by residents of a certain country...dedicated to a game about that country..and whining because they don't subscribe to your Politically Correct views on what acceptable speech is.

That somewhat sounded like a threat but I'll forgive you.
