Faith and Worship

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 4:33 am

Does the amount of worshipers and their beliefs of their deity directly affect the god's domain ?

Such as :

A decline in worshipers will weaken a god's influence and power/ and visa versa
A change of ideology of a gods' sphere will cause a realignment in the gods' domain/personality as well
Faith having a bearing on power and nature of artifacts
Faith maintaining and dictating what places like sovngarde appear to be

No faith = virtual death ?

Certainly not fully true, but perhaps partially.

First of all we can say the Daedra aren't affected. They are just powerfull "Beings" and their power certainly isn't related to how many lunatics worship them on Tamriel.
Though I wouldn't know about the Aedra, as they seem so disconnected from Tamriel... But I still highly doubt it.

What we do know is that it certainly had an effect on the the false/demi gods of the tribunal. As Vivec had said.

For the basics. http://www.imperial-library.info/content/overview-gods-and-worship would agree. Though http://www.imperial-library.info/content/light-and-dark presents an already more complicated story.

And beyond that it gets Really Complicated.

True that daedra are unlikely to be affected directly; given their existence outside the realms of mortals.
I'm more curious about the earthbound ones that could have simultaneous conflicting existences due to cross-cultural beliefs.

Thanks for the read.

guess its not something entirely explained.

Had wondered if the thalmor plans of banning Talos could change its inherent nature, when he was still worshiped by the empire.
Since it would seem now the bulk of Talos worshipers are nords in skyrim, would turn Talos into some kind of Nord centric vengeful god more in line to their ideals.
