Why fake it?

Alt+Tab is easier and supposedly less crashes/lag but with Windows Aero nowadays, it creates more work for the card because it is rendering the game and the desktop instead of real fullscreen where it just renders the game itself. Windows Aero can be disabled in Windows 7 but it is permanent in Windows 8. Personally, I have found it to be more laggy in my games when in window than fullscreen.
