[RELz] Fake Patch (Thread IV)

Yes, we don't like the way 1.1/1.4/1.5 broke VATS (time delay, can't hit grenades, can't target missiles, wonky hit percentages, etc)

I believe VATS is fixed except for targeting grenades?

Sounds about right to me, and I'd wager not being able to hit grenades was intentional.

That's odd. I'm pretty sure I shot a grenade in a raider's hand to blow it up..... Maybe you just can't shoot them out of mid-air.

Incorrect. Fake Patch is only the updates to fallout3.esm. The 1.5 vs mods problem is in the exe.

No. I'm STANDING. But the stealth is on. Happens everytime time I load. I have to crouch to clear it and see my character again. 1.2 fixed this problem and introduced the VATS problems instead.


@ GrayeWolf: Version 1.1 or so, we could shoot missles and grenades in mid-air. And yes, we can shoot grenades in people's hands to blow them up.

I knew about that, I've had the game since release. I just haven't really tried the last several months. I just had to uninstall and am about to reinstall. I go MOD crazy and end up with crashes :P

I'm fairly convinced targeting grenades and missiles in flight wasn't intentional, and neither is the fact that they still show up as targets in VATS at 0%. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a future patch remove that entirely.

What would happen If I place the Fake Patch onto my 1.5 installation? Will it fix the crash on save/exit/fast travel or would it destroy my game utterly?

Actually it will probably do nothing. There is no reason to use Fake Patch if you're using 1.5 as the idea behind Fake Patch is to use an earlier version of the exe (before they broke VATS) and have the updates that were made to the esm. You already have the updaes.

i just uninstalled and reinstalled but i cant seem to get any of the DLC's to work with 1.0.0.15. im using all 3 dlcs and obviously 1.0.0.15 with the latest fake patch.

i tried using little boy, but only 2 of the BSA's will load at a time...

I got Broekn Steel recently and upgraded to the FakePatch 1. 5.0.22.

There appears to be something missing in http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v256/suntiger745/Fallout32009-06-0503-53-45-07.jpg.
It doesn't appear to be any important things and I have not noticed any changes or problem ingame.

Is it important and do I need to look close on this, or can I just let it be?

Did you manually put the bsa files in your fallout.ini? The meshes/textures/sounds/etc won't autoload (something that was fixed with 1.1).

little boy has that utility, and i was using it, but it only let me load 2 of the DLCs at once. if i moved one above the other the bottom one wouldnt load

The text line in question is limited to 255 characters, using all 3 DLCs makes it longer. You will need to rename some of the bsa files to shorter names. Don't rename the ones named Fallout - (something).bsa or you need to change other things in the fallout.ini file just rename the 6 that came with the DLCs.

Which is why using Patch 1.5 and FO3MasterUpdate is the simpler solution.

Also are critical hits broken with the 1.5 fake patch? I hear they're supposed to bypass dr as well but don't, does using the 1.5 fake patch cause crits to break as well?

OK, Fake patch doesn't edit any weapons, thus it can't break the deathclaw gauntlet, and I have never heard annything about DR piercing crits, and the stealth suit issue is a issue with the 1.0.0.15 patch, not fake patch, and is fixed by standing up, then sneaking again.

I have already used a shishkebaber, but knowing this...its time to make a deathclaw gauntleteer! mwhahaha ty. Paralyzing palm(claw?) ftw.

Right now I use 1.0.0.15 and fake 1.5, is it advisable to also use unofficial with this below the fake patch on fomm?

A special mode of FO3Edit that makes it possible to use user made mods with Patch 1.5 without hitting any of the plugin specific bugs in Patch 1.5

Just one quick question:

I was skimming through the thread earlier, but all the posts had been from the beginning of May. I just have one question:

has anyone figured out which bugs (if at all) occur w/Broken Steel and Fake 1.5? Please let me know.
