[RELz] Fake Patch (Thread IV)

Post » Fri Oct 16, 2009 5:07 am

1) if we can actually level past 20 without crashing
2) if we can actually gain XP past level 20
3) if there is missing architechture around the Powerworks or possibly elsewhere
4) if we can advance from the end of vanilla FO3 into BS without crashing
5) if we can advance from the end of vanilla FO3 into BS with new water or are still stuck with out
6) if the Tesla Cannon is functional, if it crashes the game, or if it merely doesn't one shot Vertibirds

1. Yes
2. Yes, I already have lev 32 :shocking:
3. For me- yes
4. Yes
5. don't know, I don't understand question
6. don't know
I know 1.5 is basically incompatible with any mod that adds substance to the gameworld vs just textures/gameplay changes so we are forced to use one of the above options and continue our mods or turn off our mods and use 1.5. I would love to play the game, use all 3 DLC's, use any mods I want, and have the game work and not crash (or not in a gamebreaking way anyway). So if someone could please clarify what problems there actually are by using BS and NOT using patch 1.5 that would help me, and others, out a lot. If it is merely a gimped Tesla Cannon which is all I originally thought was lost, I can certainly live with that. If there are other problems such as those listed above, I guess I either have to shelve FO3 and pray Beth/modders fix the issues in the future or just skip BS for now.

Well, I use whole bunch of mods, my game- Fallout 1.5+fo3.exe 1.0+fake patch+UF3P
I don't have any crashes, all work just fine.
About my level 32 :)
I use mod wasteland mastery, which (possibly) make to me such present :)
But you can check leveling yourself
Use in console
rewardxp 1000
Each time you will receive 1000 xp almost without cheating. So- it will be really quick for you to receive lvl 20 and above

When you first coc there, you'll see some large machines spouting electricity. Those aren't the issue.

Near the middle of the facility, there's a large pit, with a tesla coil in the center, and huge bolts of lightening all over the place. if you can see the pit it's in the center of, you don't have the issue. BUT if you see it's just floating in the middle of space, then it's the issue.

Like I said, my only solution was installing 1.5...

It don't help to me, I already check it
Do you want to say, what installing of 1.5 resolve problem for you?

Hrm.. immediate testing indicates that the turrets located outside the cell I teled to can hit me, but I cannot hit them. I used 3 rounds of vats using: Blackhawk, Chinese AR, and Terrible Shotgun as well as a few non-vats potshots with Lincoln's Repeater to no avail. I lose life as normal but they do not seem to register hits.

Make tgm in console (god mode) and try to kill them
Try to reload game from the menu- will it help? Do you use CASM?
If yes- there is problem with fallout 1.4-1.5, Beth broke console quickloading

Would like to report that the game crashes anytime a player reaches level 21 with Evil or Very Evil karma. Tried with player.setlevel and the game crashed immediately.

Yes, only 1.5 exe don't crash

So- what in result?
-Wrong leveling above 20
-Geometry problems in new locations
That's sad :(

I can confirm the evil leveling crash and teh olney powerworks issue. I can aslo second that followers will not enter BS areas only.

I believe the evil leveling crash is caused by titles. When i hit level 21, i go back to the initial title(Vault Dweller). however, I noticed that my title is actually the karma level below mine's title.

Ie. Being good gets the neutral title, being neutral gets the evil title.
Being evil gets a (null) title that will crash the game upon loading.

But... I will be optimistic
There is only two little problems in fallout 1.0+fakepatch.
And Much more positive moments
So- I will continue to play 1.0 until Beth don't remove they crap :)

Bad carma, huh? I remember there was some carma-related bug, which prevent leveling after 20 before the last content. Beth claim they fix it
Are you sure you don't have mods, which allow avoid old level cup?

Since i don't have Broken Steel i use http://fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=121. I used this mod since another mod crashes the game when the player character is evil.
Copied from the instruction:
MaxLevelWorkaround.esp
- Resets your character's level to 20 every time you level up.
- You keep the Perk and Skills you choose during level up, but not your hit points.
- Because you stay level 20, you keep your Karmic Title, and Three-Dog still talks about you (or he should anyway).

The mod developer says it shouldn't have problem with BS, since i just have to remove the maxlevelworkaround.esp and still keeps all the perks i accumulated. There's also a Broken steel version of the mod that resets the PC level to 30.

Ok, the large pit resolved just fine, that is, I could see the entirety of that room without issue. However, from the door I entered the other door across (roughly) from me had messed up geometry where I could not see the floor or ceiling. This effect only persisted from the point of view of the center coil, once I entered the hallway and door in question the area resolved as normal.

I;d be happy to document this with load order and screenshots if that would be helpful. If you are working on the FP project and would like that information please PM me with details of what you need.

I'd love to see screens of the working tesla pit, as well as the issue you had, graphically.

Okay I ran some of my own tests. Notes: Im not using FOOK, I am using FakePatch and the unofficial patch. I DID re-download broken steel again and I loaded a Old Save game and made my way into the power works.

The Room is invisable still near the coil, and after i noticed that i tried forcing a level up to 21 via advlevel. Again choosing a perk produced a immediate crash. So for me at least, re-downloading BS didnt fix anything.

Edit: I just tried the Level Cap workaround BS Edition, I even put it last in my Load Order. I still crashed when picking the perk.

Using 1.0.0.15.exe, unofficial fo3 patch, fomm, fose, dlc AO & TP +AmmoPressFix.esp & BS + RemapWaterType.esp in x86 XPSP3 using Sli mode I'm finding the game running great so far.

My Stats were all at 100 before adding dlc BS ,
But before I level up I need to console in "player.modav xxxx -22" (xxxx being a stat name, -22 being the stat amount to reduce)
Otherwise I end up stuck at the Add Points to Stats screen on level up and can't continue on.
Are there any better work arounds for the max stat level up issue?

I haven't continued on with BS quests yet after waking up at the Citadel with lyons ugly mug in my face.
But have been back to visit Purity with Fawkes trailing behind me..lol
I'm on level 24 and the game hasn't crashed in over 6 hours straight play since adding dlc BS.
I gather I'm in for some glitching times once I start doing the dlc BS quests?

So if the leveling bug is caused by karmic titles, could it be possible to add positive karma so you're Neutral or Good and then level up and then afterwards add evil karma so you're Evil again?

I got fed up with those perks like commando or gunslinger not working and decided to reinstall the game and installad 1.0.0.15 patch and... well I did it as it was told to do. I'm just worried about mods. What needs redating and what not? And what happens if I install/enable Broken Steel somewhere in the beginning of the game.. when you have not made much progress in main quest and other quests.. I just like to cheat meself that Hellfire Power Armor (yeah I'm impatient).

When I downgraded with the 1.0.0.15 exe (steam version) I had no problems at all. I recommend to activate BS at the beginning of the game. (Nothing really happens until your level 18 anyways.) about ~1 in hour game time it should let you know that your level cap has been raised to level 30.

Cool, thanks. So I can install/enable BS without any second thoughts? Other than to remember to enable the RemapWaterType.esp near the "end" of the game?

If this bug is caused by karma, is it possible to knock up a mod that keeps Karma neutral all the time or something? I mean personally I'll take being able to level up without crashing over karma titles anyday.

That's what I was thinking, or alternatively one that makes your Karma neutral while you're leveling up and then bumps it back to evil again.

bumping it back to evil again will not work....since it will crash as you will still have (null) as your karma title

A few things I've noticed with using the 1.0.0.15 Reversion Kit and BS (happening for me maybe not others)

Oldney graphics glitch as mentioned by others where tesla tower floating in the middle of the room.

Almost unkillable ghouls in Washington metro (only the newer type ghouls added by BS) , they sorta glitch violently and lucky if 1 in 10 shots hit them no matter what weapon or distance is used.

Turret computer terminals at air field when hacked don't seem to show any options (maybe meant to be like that?)..

My companion doesn't come into some areas with me and then shows up at the end or start of an area, sorta intermittent though.

If all my stats are all at 100 and I hit a level up I can't get past the stat points distribution screen.

In time, it might be possible to fix all or at least most of these glitches by incorporating a supplemental BS plugin with cummulative fixes. There are bound to be ways to fake most of the new stuff, but I'm hoping Beth takes a little time to address these issues (1.6 please?) so we can all just be on the same page again. -__-
