[RELz] Fake Patch (Thread IV)

i had the missing textures or whatever in the iron works as well. luckily since the col files worked it was pretty easy to move around once i jumped down

I'm having sound issues though

The Tesla Cannon's fire and reload sounds won't play and when i got into the vertibird at the end there was no sound in side other than dialog, and i'm assuming your suppose to hear the blades spinning. idk

Luckily to fix the tesla cannon i just changed the sounds in the geck to liberty primes laser sound and thats good enough for now. I also felt that it was INCREDIBLY underpowered compared to what i saw in videos. I saw 1-shot kills on vertibirds and when i first got it it was taking 4-5 shots. So i upped the damage to 500 and now it gets some one shots.

If all my stats are all at 100 and I hit a level up I can't get past the stat points distribution screen.

So if the leveling bug is caused by karmic titles, could it be possible to add positive karma so you're Neutral or Good and then level up and then afterwards add evil karma so you're Evil again?

The best way is to use console

It seems to be a true bug somewhere. I just did a complete reinstall and ONLY used the 1.0.0.1.5 patch, Fake Patch, Unofficial patch and all the DLCs without any other mods in the install and i still couldnt level up and the room was invisable in the power works. I even put in the BS Edition Level Cap Workaround mod and it still crashed.

If someone can make this karma workaround mod for the time being i think there'd be alot of grateful people as i can confirm, trying that Karma Console command and making myself neutral allowed me to FINALLY level up.

I can confirm that if you change your karma to Neutral or Good through the console you can level up normally.
It's just that I would like to stay evil but I can't see how that could be done without installing the 1.5 patch. :(

Unless someone can figure out a way to fix it or JustinOther can somehow include the new BS Karmic Titles from lvl 21 to 30 into the Fake Patch I suppose us evil characters will have to play as Neutral or Good.

EDIT: You just have to make sure your title doesn't change back to Evil again.

Only problem is that I am willing to bet that that is a .exe change and not a .esm change as even looking at the use info for all karma in game(the stat to all the global variables to quests) I can't find where the titles are stored or where the titles are assigned. I just had the idea(pretty sure it wasn't original, but the first time I thought of it at least) to go through and assign a karmic title below the evil ones(something ironic like "hah, look who isn't crashing now") but I fail xD

Can anyone confirm the Tesla blowing Vertibirds out of the air? I tried and it never did anything, figured they took it out. Other than that, the main issue I see is Feral Ghoul Reavers going Mecha-Shiva all the time.

I tried this in the console:

SetGameSetting sKarmicTitleEvil21 "Architect Of Doom"

But it didn't work.

I have shot Vertabirds out of the air, its fun, but very dificult.
It takes a bunch of shots from the cannon, a fatman does a better job.

Thankfully someone did it, there is a new mod out that makes the Tesla Cannon how its suppose to be. If the creator is reading the fourms, Thanks for making this.

Just cheated meself the Heavy Ince..something and it's missing the firing sound wtf? I want it to make sound!

EDIT: Nevermind, just had to change the BS's .bsa files place in fallout.ini. Somehow the sound .bsa wasn't working yet it was in the list just fine.

You've NOT solved your problem only moved it to another bsa.
Basically you've exceeded the 255 character per line count limit for .ini entries.
RE-read the OP specifically the 'IMPORTANT - Manually adding archives to your Fallout3.ini' bit in the DLC compatibility section for info on shortening the bsa names.
Plus do yourself a favor and get the Little Boy handy utility linked to in that section.

Thats the Telsa Cannon eh? Although impressive...it sounds like crap, I dont really get the feeling im fireing a "cannon of telsa" so to speak...someone needs to make a better sound effect for it...otherwise I will for myself :P

Ok here is my Broken Steel report with fake patch and in general, so far, so good.

Wanting to experience it "mostly vanilla" for the first time, I pulled a very old saved game from before I had too many mods, and disabled most of my mods. The only mod of game changing significance I am using right now is MMM.

I donwloaded the new fake patch along with the 2 mods to update changed refs and the water swap. The firts thing I noticed is that the fake patch esm wasn't loading. It wouldn't load into GECK 1.5 either. I noticed the version number in FO3EDIT had changed, and was later than even broken steel. I fixed it in FO3EDIT. I don't know if it was me, but check your saved game in FOMM to see if the fake patch loaded if you are having problems.

In any case I had no problem going through the memorial with Sarah or Fawkes. I have done the first two quests of BS without issue. Of note, Fawkes does follow me through all BS areas, but sometimes takes a while to get through a door and tends to show up in the middle of a level. Or right away sometimes.

I didn't have any trouble with the first 2 quests (which is as far as I am) as far as bugs or crashes. My powerworks did not have the problem with missing room as mentioned above but I was missing a staircase. I think it is a mod conflict, possibly with a mesh from unofficial patch, but that is a complete guess.

I am level 20 and gaining exp, will post if it crashes at level 21.


Oh and one other thing...this save was before OA or TP. They wouldn't start properly with fake patch unless I ran FOSE. Makes no sense, but whatever.

So I finished Broken Steel and the only problems I had were:

1) Sarah wouldn't follow me into the purifier room: Used console to teleport her to me.

2) I was evil so I couldn't level up to 21: Used console to make my Karma neutral. (Later in the game I used Alystins new fix for the problem.)

3) The Olney Powerworks room with the Tesla Coil was missing textures and the levers around the coil crash the game: I just took the Tesla Coil without turning the electric off and got shocked but didn't die. Not a game-breaking bug since you should have enough health to take it or if not you can use the console to get god mode.

4) The Tesla Cannon seems to be underpowered.

5) I saw a couple of red exclamation marks. (In case you don't know what they mean: A texture or mesh is missing.)
One was above the round metal hatch in the middle of the Gurney in the Citadel. And I think the other was when I took some Brotherhood Power Armor off someone and then dropped it on the ground from my inventory. Don't know what caused either of those but they didn't cause a problem.

And that's it.
Otherwise the game and BS ran perfectly.

OK, I've read the main post here a few times trying to figure it out. If I extract broken steel into my data files is it going to work, the same way the pitt and OA worked? I realise the main post says it's a bit iffy, but what does that mean? Just little (or big) glitches like Blade Arachnos mentions?

I see everyone talking about needing this water revamp thing and i just have no clue how it relates to anything.

I assume I should just hold off trying to play Broken Steel until it is not "iffy", right?

FYI I am running the fake patch and FOMM with the official patch from before VATS was borked, as the instructions say. I just am trying to piece together whether Broken Steel can be installed the same way I installed OA and the Pitt.

Well- after two weeks of cleansing in mods I remove any conflicts (I hope) which prevents me to run game smooth and properly in 1.0+fake patch+UF3P
Now I fully reinstall the game and will try to make it with 1.5 patch- without fake one. Already found two mods, which have difficulties with 1.5, correct this by converting both to ESM.
For now found something.
1.5 have bsa's autoload feature, but it work strange for me. Seems to me all dlc's must have their original names (not shorten ones) or must be in the sarchive list. Or they will be unrecognised by the game

well after finishing everything my problems:
SPOILERS INCLUDED


1) Tesla Coil room with no floor
2) Tesla Cannon had no fire/reload sounds
3) liberty prime said nothing when the orbital strike was coming
4) during the whole end of the game the 'battle' music never played. it was quiet for the most part, slightly annoying.
5) Tesla cannon was only doing 128 damage and was incredibly underpowered compared to the trailer/videos of it.
6) on vertibird flight there was no sounds at all other than dialog.

So for the sounds, could it be because the BSA list is over 255? I still heard ALL the dialog from Broken steel just sound effects were missing.

Absolutely. I visited the coil room and there was a floor with 1.0.0.15. Read the OP about the bsa's...
