Falling in Skyrim

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 12:05 am

This really ruined a lot of messing around in Oblivion for me. I'd take the adoring fan up to dive rock and shoot him off, then jump off myself only to whiz by his corpse as it slowly drifts down like a snowflake. Come on Bethesda, what gives? Does everybody in Cryodiil have a perma-slowfall effect but me?

Also, I shouldn't fall down stairs, or slopes at 45 degree angles. Incorporate gravity this time please!

No. Objects and NPCs should be falling faster.

Yea also i want the falling to be more ragdolly.
You just keep in the same position in the air that is unrealistic.

That too! I always got so mad when I was running full speed down a mountain and it would launch me in the air like I just went off a ramp with a motor-bike.

Gravity, unless I'm levitating.

Well, I would be surprised if you didn't fall faster than the adoring fan. After all, you propobly had 5 swords, 3 bows, 500 arrows, several armor plates, 50 potions and 20 books in your pockets :whistling:

Modified the pole to incorporate what you said as well.

Weight doesn't effect the speed at which you fall.

Weight is irrelevant when talking about falling speed. It comes down to air resistance, aerodynamics, and a bunch of other factors. In a complete vacuum a bowling ball would fall just as fast as a baseball.
... Unless all those text books I've read have been complete lies o.o

You're right, my mistake. I'm all stressed out with the exams.

No, that would be too slow and would probably feel silly.

i think oblivion's gravity was quite on the nose, you should not change it, (P.S. technically, you "wizzed" passed the adoring fan because he is probably carrying alot less stuff, and he's falling at a less aerodynamic position

Okay, somebody who has quick easy access to Oblivion right now:

1. Go to the Wizard's Tower

2. Get on the top most floor, next to the balcony

3. Position yourself so you'll fall off if you go all ragdoll

4. Lower your fatigue to a negative level so you'll faint (I suggest eating a large amount of rat meat)

5. Tell us what happened

For those of you who are no fun.
Spoiler
Your body falls so slow that your person separates from it and falls to his death while his body is still floating down.

the problem was that stuff stopped accelerating way too quickly... so yea everything should fall faster

Make everything fall at the same rate.

But all in all I want my paint brushes to defy gravity!!!!

Yay for gravity, I really hope they improve on this in the game because floating of the stairs was wierd.
