Fallout 12Tactics: Revenge of the Lawyers

As a lot of you probably know, the old Fallout games were removed from GoG and Steam quite a while ago, due to some legal matters going on between Bethesda and Interplay. I have the entire Fallout series installed on Steam, and in the lack of Fallout 4 news I am getting pretty close to making the jump and doing a playthrough of the entire series back to back. The only problem with this is that when they come back to Steam, there will probably be some changes. I think the only real change for starting a new game will be Bethesda logos at the start, but there's many things that can go wrong. Steam could eat all my saves, disable my mods, and generally be a bother as it usually is in these matters.

I haven't had any luck in getting Steam to not touch my installs for other games, and I don't think Steam will be different this time. So what I am asking is if anyone has a idea when this change is going to happen, and how much it will mess up my install, if any. If nobody has the answer, then we can always speculate when we have absolutely no information, which is a favourite among Fallout fans all across the globe :P

You could just go out and buy yourself a real world copy of the games. That way you will always have a copy that was the way it was supposed to be if changes are made in the future.
