Fallout 4 at E3 2011?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 5:04 pm

Okay i know Bethesda will be be focusing on Skyrim at this years E3 2011 expo, but in august of 2010,Todd Howard stated that two games where under production the second most likely being Fallout 4 while im not expecting gameplay or anything do you think they might announce it and show a teaser trailer as 5 months is more than enough time just to make a trailer..

I think it'd be more realistic to expect it at next year's E3. Bethesda likes to show as much of their games as possible when they're revealed, and I'm sure they don't have too much done on it right now with all the effort they're putting into making Skyrim great.

I agree, I'd expect it to be announced E3 2012... I'm excited though and really hope for it to be announced then.

I think it's safe to say we wont see anything about Fallout 4 until, at the very least, Skyrim goes gold. At that point they'll shift most of their staff over to working on Fallout 4, and the game will go from being in pre-production into full production. How long it'll take after that for them to announce Fallout 4 is anyone's guess, but personally I'm not expecting to hear anything until 2013.

I'd say 2014 seems likely, using Oblivion and Fallout 3 as examples, it would probably happen like this:

2004: Oblivion announced, Bethesda acquires development rights to Fallout 3, 4 & 5 from Interplay
2005: Oblivion in full production, a few people working on the newly acquired Fallout 3.
March 2006: Oblivion released, half the team is working on Oblivion's DLC and Shivering Isles.
2007: Shivering Isles released, Fallout 3 now how has everyone working on it, Bethesda acquires entire Fallout series.
October 2008: Fallout 3 released, like Oblivion, half the team works on Fallout 3's DLC.
2009: Fallout 3's 5 DLCs are released, Skyrim in full production.
October 2010: Fallout New Vegas released
December 2010: Skyrim announced
2011: New Vegas DLC released
November 2011: Skyrim released

2012: TESV expansion(s) is/are released.
2013: Bethesda announces Fallout 4.
October 2014: Fallout 4 released.

I think it will be more like 2013 Because Fallout 3 was realeshed just 2 years after Oblivion came out,and Bethesda overlaps on their games so they are most likely working on Fallout 4 as we speak.
and to add the new Creation engine allows the devs to make the games faster.

They have been for about five years, or are you being sarcastic?

They have a bigger team now so hopefully they'll develope Skyrim DLCs alongside Fallout 4 and if so we'll probably get it by 2013 (FINGERS' CROSSED!)

I'd rather they put two extra years of development into an engine specifically catered to the needs of Fallout.

I don't think you got the joke. December 21st is when the world is supposed to end, which would be funny if that was when Fallout 4 was released.

2013/2014 would be a reasonable release, I think after 2014 would be too long. It would be great if Obsidian developed with the Creation Engine, but created most of the Fallout assets from scratch, and made the game truly unique, much more than it was with Fallout 3 to New Vegas.

You know Bethesda could have been working on fallout 4 shortly after oblivion? They could have one team working on elder scroll five and the other fallout 4.

You mean when they were also working on Fallout 3?

Besides, last i checked Bethesda Game Studios wasn't big enough to be handling too many projects at once. More likely they have people working on concepts and design for Fallout 4 at the moment, with the actual work being picked up as people are rotated from ESV as their tasks on that game are completed.

oblivion came out in 2006, skyrim is gonna be this year 2011, thats 5 years, FO3 came out in late 2008, so my guess is 5 years max also for FO4, nobody was sure when ESV would come out, i don't see more than a 5 year gap between FO3 and FO4. certainly not more than 2 years after skyrim. that would be 2013.

I seriously doubt they are working on Fallout 4 right now with the legal battle still going on. More than likely, Bethesda will be mostly focusing on winning this fight with Interplay right now, better to wait and see how that turns out than speculate about what it could be and be disappointed and let down by false guesses or being wrong in the end that it might not be a Fallout project at all.

To my recollection, even if Beth lost, they'd still have rights to make Fallout 4 (and maybe 5 too, unless the legal stuff counts F:NV already as the fourth game - I think initially they had rights for 3 Fallout games). So the courting against I-play wouldn't really have any effect on what BGS does with the next single player Fallout title. I may be wrong (so someone correct me), but that's how I remember the case being.

actually, i-play is counting FO:NV as one of the 3 games, so they have one left.

interplay can't do crap. Heres why

1)Bethesda LEGALLY bought the Fallout rights, and all entitled games
2)Interplay is too small
3)Bethesda "lived up" fallout

If bethesda cannot make fallout, im not buying another fallout game.
