Fallout Advert Artwork

Post » Sun Jan 30, 2011 11:15 pm

While waiting for FLV I have been messing around with different adverts for Nuka Cola etc and came up with a couple that I would like to share.

1st one is a copy of an old Coca Cola sign using a Nuka Cola bottle I found online as a part of other art and weathering it all. pretty basic i guess but still learning

2nd one - Vault Magazine - front page is the same format as Life magazine from the 40's with some changes, the back art is an old washing powder ad changed to NKQ using a slightly modified NKQ bottle from other art and slightly changed text from another old coke advert. It took me alot of time to remove the old washing powder text and tidy it all up. I also changed the colouring slightly, added the spine stapels and some weathering. All in all probably pretty basic for most of the graphic designers out there but it took some time for me to work though it all :)

I actually like the 'magazine' look and so if I get some time i might do some more

This is nice. I'm noticing alot of people are just making Fallout related stuff just in anticipation for New Vegas. Am I the only one who is too broke to actually get it?

I whipped up another one, this time with a Mentats ad that took alot of inspiration from an old donut ad with an old US Football image i found. When i went looking for an image for the front page I found a nice image that gave me a nice birthday theme for this issue

Love the "Ice Cold Nuka Cola Sold Here" poster -- would be cool to have them hanging on stores in-game.

The Mentats advert was cool too -- funny, and fits right into the Fallout world.

Well done, mister :tops:

These are fantastic! I'm not sure however, about how the 3D game renderings fit with the period graphic quality of the ads. Perhaps posterize? But I would definitely do something to relate the two halves better.

I agree with irJeanPaul a bit, in regards to the game-graphics pictures... but I certainly understand WHY you used them... and they only detract slightly from the overall feel of the things.

Personally, I hope someone awesome asks you for permission to make these GAME items.

>.> ... I seriously want a 'Ice-Cold Nuka-Cola Sold Here' poster for my gas station!

So, I'm taking a look at the magazine-styled pieces at the moment, trying to see if there would be any way of getting them to work on the in-game magazine mesh.

Personally, I'm the -last- person who should even be attempting this, because I have absolutely -zero- skill in retexturing anything, much less when dealing with textures not really ever intended to be applied to anything... but I would -absolutely- love to find copies of VAULT magazine lying around the wasteland. It seems to me that, with the whole thing being a grand experiment, they probably would have been hyping the whole process up in unique ways like this all along.

Blargh... but it isn't easy... I'll probably end up giving up.
