Fallout 1 Advice/Help

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 2:04 am

Ok guys I know that there are a LOT of these threads but bare with me. I just bought the Fallout Collection and I'm going to start Fallout 1. Any advice for Perks, Traits, Skills, SPECIAL, or anything like that would be greatly appreciated. Also what's the deal with the limited time for acquiring the water chip for Vault 13?

1. You'll find plenty of threads in the archives on good Fo1/2 builds

2. Pretty much as it says. Run out of time, and the vault dies of Dehydration. Don't worry too much about it as its plenty of time and its only a limit on the first act.

Didn't patch 1.01 eliminate the time limit?

As far as I can recall, only the second limit (which was pretty much unreachable anyway).

I was looking on the wiki on the Fallout page and in version 1.01 the Mutant attack time limit was eliminated.

Then it must have been removed... Seems a silly idea but heck, in that case you have even less to worry about.

Yeah I was mistaken it was the Mutant attack time limit that was removed.

Getting the Chip is your goal. Your vault will die without it. You heard what the overseer said. No need to have the forum hold your hand.

Base your character around Small Guns or Melee your first time around, you'll find Big Guns and Energy Weapons to be pretty scarce. I would recommend not taking any traits your first time around too... better to experiment with them on later playthroughs.

Your probably coming from Fallout 3/New Vegas, so you will have a hard time adjusting to the game; Its much different after all. Over time you learn to love it though, and as you play the newer games you will miss the heavily satisfying death animations from the originals...

So wait, getting the chip isn't the end of the game? I thought the "Days Left" was an indication I had that much time to beat the game!

Well, after you bring back the watership, there's still the mutant threat left. There ain't really no point in fixing clean water if mutants will come knocking on the door in a few months anyways. :)

No, its just to the end of "act 1", presuming you do it "properly".

(theres no reason you couldn't finnish Act 2 before Act 1)
