The thing is miss the most in FO3 in comaprisation to 1 and 2 is the humor.
yes yes, there are some real funny things in FO3 but not as cool like lets say the bridge.... When I encounterd that one and got the question: What is thy quest? I could not stop laughing!

That encounter made me watch "The Holy Grail" and I don't regret it
Superficial or not, I have a big problem with isometric view in games. I really dislike it. Everything seem so small and I seem so far away and detached from my character it makes it hard for me to immerse.
I loved the view in the first two games, The graphics in those games to me are much more tasty then in the 3rd. The 3rd has graphics for the more "I like to watch peoples head explode very closely" type of people, That for me is'nt what im looking for. Plus throw FO3 into the graphics of the 1990's genre of games and it'll problys not have been such a hit. Since most of the 21st century generation of gamers are only graphic [censored]s.
All I know is that I look at Fallout 3 and I can easily say it has nothing to do with the previous Fallouts. I saw the Point Lookout trailer some weeks ago, I didn't realise it was Fallout till the text came up at the very last seconds.
Oh and I prefer the isometric look. And given today's technology, I'm still waiting for an isometric game with "awesome graphics" as you people put it, then the fallacious argument of a 2008 game looking better than a 1999 game () will finally be put to rest.
I can't even believe some people even use this argument.
Dragon Age, for example, lets you choose between TPP and isometric. When I played it, I certainly used isometric in combat situations, to get a good tactical view.
granted fallout 3 is a great game... the sole reason i bought the special edition version of it was my love for fallout 1 and 2, seriously they are great.. they were doing stuff that rpgs are doing today back in the day... hell fallout 2 you could become a child murdering porm star... seriously you could... i remember the awkwardness when my female character pretty much hit on another female who she saved then got turned down.. and honestly the old fallouts were a bit harder... but still great fun...
Thats because theyre not that great by themselves. If you want to get the full effect, take a few Fallout 1 tracks I recommend Desert Winds, City of Lost Angels, and Second Chance, delete the FO3 tracks, and put them in the exploration music folder by themselves. Play the game then, see what you think.

The Witcher offers the same feature, and I choose isometric too. It's just too comfortable and has desired "awesome graphics".
