Fallout 4 - Attack on sight or Jail?

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 3:48 pm

Now, I can't speak for everyone here, but for me personally getting the NCR on your bad side was just such a pain in the ass in New Vegas, just because of the amount of land they owned, getting shot on sight was very annoying and I was too lazy to wear disguises. Now, this is my question. Would you like a jail system if you're caught in enemy territory instead of being shot on sight? Once you've been jailed it would lower your reputation bar down by one. The more you've been jailed/paid for your crimes, the faster your reputation would change to normal? Just like Oblivion, every time you are jailed it would lower a certain skill of yours, maybe -5 medicine, -10 sneak, etc? What are you thoughts?

(If you holster your weapon it is a sign of surrender!)

If the above does not appeal to you, what are your thoughts for jailing systems just for getting caught doing things such as pick-pocketing etc.

I'm the enemy.

"Shoot me! Shoot me now!"

"You're not taking me alive."

I wouldn't mind a jail system but it would be good if it reflected the un-society; more cutthroat, less torrance for crimes. I think they'll just have no jail system and I'd be fine with that.

Maybe jail systems just in large towns/cities.

I′m not for jail or someone owning land. I liked the free-for-all the Capital Wasteland had :)

A jail system for minor crimes would work like stealing, brawling, pickpocketing, etc murder is more of a shoot on sight thing in a post apocalyptic world in my mind.

why jail you when there is no-one that is interested in paying a ransom for you?

No one pays a ransom for you, when you are fighting a hostile faction (hostile through reputation) and you holster your weapon the soldier/guard will come up to you, you will have 3 options.

1) Pay bounty [insert price here] This will let you go free and will lower your reputation with said faction.

2) Go to jail. When you are in jail you will sleep in the bed, once you wake up you will be allowed to go, or try and breakout of the jail.

3) Discontinue conversation and attack.

Not fond of prisons. Maybe you could surrender to the Institute, in a quest. But not normal settlements.

Imprisonment in the Fallout Universe after the bombs fall would probably not be quite like it is in our universe.

If you get drunk and lip off to the town marshal, sure, she will throw you into a cell to sleep it off, but...

Prisoners who are in for longer than a night, require resources to keep them prisoners. You need to feed them, you need guards to watch them. If you walk into a town that you have just spent the last six months of your life shooting up their water caravans and if they don't shoot you where you stand, they are going to slap an explosive collar on your neck and you will work for your keep. When they get tired of looking at you, they will sell you.

I agree, think most here think minor stuff like activating an tincan in store then trying to talk to shopkeeper.
