Fallout Before the Wastes!

I love the Fallout series, and I anxiously await the next Fallout game. However, in my unsuccessful endeavors to learn the slightest details about a possible Fallout 4, I came across many others, in addition to myself, who feel there should be a Fallout game dedicated to the pre-Great War era. Personally, I feel like I NEED to know how the Great War came to be. I love playing Fallout, but there are times when I stop to think, "I wonder what it was like before all this utter destruction!" Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the sublte hints given in the Fallout games, but to me, subtle hints aren't enough. I have this craving to know what took place, what caused the Wasteland as we know it. The game could take place shortly before the Great War, highlighting the rising tensions between the United States and China. The player could choose which side to play as. Whichever side you choose is where your game takes place. The game could emphasize the building and habitation of the vaults. In-game decisions would direct the route of the game. And of course, the game would end with nuclear carnage, leaving right where Fallout 1 begins. I'm no game creator, but it sounds like a reasonable request from a die-hard Fallout fan! I've even thought of a pretty little name for it........Fallout: Beginnings. If this dream of mine ever became a reality, I would devote the rest of my life promoting Bethesda! But I want to hear from other fans. What do you think? What other ideas do you have for the potential prequel to the most amazing game series that ever existed?

Welcome to the Forum

You aren't alone in the idea. But it wouldn't be Fallout, it would be a very different game set in the Fallout Universe. http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/J.E._Sawyercame up with an idea for a game called http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout:_Resource_WarsIt was the time leading up the Great War of October 23, 2077. The world running out if not an out of Oil and Uranium.

I don't want to know who fired the first shot in the Great War. Based on what we know of the Fallout Universe, it was China. Anyways this is all I need to know ==>

"In the 21st century war was still waged for the resources that could be acquired; only this time the spoils of war were also its weapons, petroleum and uranium. For these resources China would invade Alaska. The US would annex Canada and the European Commonwealth would dissolve into quarrelling bickering nation states bent on controlling the last remaining resources on Earth. In 2077 the storm of World War had come again. In two brief hours most of the planet was reduced to cinders" Fallout Intro

"The end of the world occurred pretty much as we had predicted; too many humans and not enough space or resources to go around. The details are trivial and pointless, the reasons as always, purely human ones. The Earth was nearly wiped clean of life." Fallout 2 intro.

Bethesda has already said they will not go back in the timeline.

A very nice idea sorta a prelude to fallout 1 and sounds good on paper. But how could it play out? Not saying its hard just contemplating do we have no RPG elements and just a linear story or have some RPG elements and have a bordeline 'free' story just with adeffinant beggining and end. Just something to ponder on
